Review summary

Loved doing a Transatlantic cruise. Enjoyed peaceful days at sea. Prima, while a beautiful ship is not meant for cold weather cruising. Too many people crammed inside in many little venues. Specialty Restaurants were outstanding.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Worst experience embarking in over 25 cruises. Took over 3 hours to get onboard.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Quality of food was excellent, especially the specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Too cold to use any of the outdoor facilities. Would have been nice to have speakers, especially a speaker about Iceland.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Donna Summer show was great. Heidi Carlson did two good shows. If you were lucky to get into Syd Normans for the Fleetwood Mac Rumors show, you were rewarded. Not many made it. The rest of the entertainment was not so good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was wonderful considering there were a lot of rude people onboard.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The Prima is designed for a warm weather cruise…not a cold weather cruise. The ship is beautiful, but it is form over function. Lot of little meeting spaces.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The stateroom was beautiful. Best bathroom at sea. Plenty of storage room. Didn’t need our over the door shoe organizer.

Ship tip

Expect a lot of lines. Bring your patience.

Ports of call

New York, New York

5 out of 5
No excursion, just arrived 3 days before the cruise to relax and explore.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

4 out of 5
No excursion, did the Hop On Hop Off bus. We were a little early in the season.

Reykjavik, Iceland

5 out of 5
Beautiful port. Did The Golden Circle excursion and highly recommend.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

4 out of 5
Enjoyed Amsterdam. Did the HOHO bus and canal boat.

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

5 out of 5
Did an excursion to Bruges. Town was charming. Did a canal boat ride. Only problem was that it was very crowded. Four day holiday in Europe, so the ports were very crowded.

Le Havre (Paris), France

4 out of 5
Took the very long bus trip into Paris. We had been to Paris before, so we enjoyed walking around and seeing the preparations for the Olympics.

Southampton (London), England

3 out of 5
Got off the ship in Southampton and took transportation directly to London for 3 wonderful days.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy Peary. NCL paid to bring UK immigration onboard, so we were able to do immigration a few days before we arrived. After our embarkation nightmare, this was delightful.

Very interesting cruise. Quite a bit of variety. Thanks for your review. We had the UK immigration onboard too on Celebrity. Very convenient.
