Review summary

This is a good, solid cruise on a very pretty ship. The ship has a lot that is good, but the overall design and venue sizes really take away from the enjoyment bringing the ship overall down to a 3.5 star while the staff and quality are 4+ stars. Overall worth it!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Boarding the ship was fast and smooth. Much easier than last time and probably my easiest ever.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The ships food is great. The specialty restaurants are the best on board, but Hudson's is great as well. The buffet is good, but repetitive; even on theme nights there was very little change to the menu

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I did not partake in many activities on-board. The pools though were clean and always full.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The musical "Summer" was canceled for this sailing (thankfully), the last time I saw it on the Prima was very bad. It was replaced by 2 comedians and a magician. all 3 were very good and enjoyable. All of them engaged with the audience and really brought the crowd into be a part of the show.

Children's Programs

Did not travel with kids

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The room steward was very attentive and always did a great job.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This is where the ship struggles. The ship is spotless! and very pretty to look at, but the venues are all very small and you will struggle to get into the more popular ones and if you do get in there is a very good chance it will be standing room only. There is no main corridor to walk through on the inside, so it is a maze on each floor to get from one side to the other, but everything is kept clean and is very nice to look at it.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I love these new Balcony rooms. The balcony is roomy and the seats are comfortable. The beds are nice and the sofa is comfy as well. The bathroom is a little small, but is nicer than on other ships.

Ship tip

Realize that many of the extras like the go carts, darts, are an extra charge. Also know that the freebies like the pools and clubs will be packed

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

I live in area, so I don't really rate this experience :)

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
This is very much a cruise terminal town, but I did a scuba excursion from united with a local dive shop and the group was excellent!

Harvest Caye, Belize

3 out of 5
This is a private island spot that NCL owns. It is okay, but nothing to write home about. The snorkeling is good there and the staff is friendly

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
I always love Roatan. This time I did a scuba excursion through United and it was fabulous! The island is beautiful and the people are friendly

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Cozumel as a town is very touristy, but there is a lot to do there which is great. I again did a scuba excursion through United. This was probably the best scuba trip I have ever done! The staff was great and the water was crystal clear

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
This was probably the biggest improvement over my last time on Prima. I did the early departure with my own bags. I lined up at 630am and they had signs everywhere and ropes to guide you to the exits. Once open it was very fast and easy
