Great Itinerary, wonderful staff, lovely new ship but with lots of quirks with definitely needed improvements to the food quality!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The Main Dining Room - Hudson's had gorgeous views and wonderful and attentive staff! Unfortunately the food was often cold on arrival with sometimes questionable quality! We learned to order breakfasts that required them to cook the food fresh such as omelets or fried eggs to avoid a cold disappointment! Our visits to several Specialty restaurants were much better with delicious and beautifully prepared dishes like what we had hoped for! The Free at Sea drink options were wonderful with Excellent choices in Alcoholic beverages with some higher end liquors to choose from! Bar Service was also First-Rate and Superb!

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The two game shows presented in the smallish Main Theater were fun and very well executed with "The Price is Right" surprisingly enjoyable and extravagant! Also a Rock Music show was fun but loud!

Service and Staff

The Staff were first class and always smiling and helpful!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This fairly new ship was lovely and very clean, which was much appreciated! The newer design of this vessel had been reviewed and we were aware of some of the complaints! It turned out that this was well justified! The layout of the ship forces passengers to pass by income-producing venues on their way to the complimentary ones! This design makes it very difficult to learn how to navigate your way around and not get confused by fore and aft direction. Stepping off the elevators, which mostly sit away from the main aisles, forces one to run to the interactive maps to determine which way to head next! Even on the final days of the trip, we were still baffled frequently by confused directional issues! My favorite example of this problem is that unless you go outside to "Broadway" you must pass through the Casino which stretches across both sides of the ship, even when not "open" or ride the elevator up a flight and then back down, in order to get to the Main Dining Room! Oh! Even then you must pass by two Specialty Restaurants and directly through a Bar to get the Dining Room, which was designed to be too small to accommodate enough guests seeking the "Complimentary" food and was often backed up with passengers waiting to get in! All of these issues were quite irritating and distracted from the appealing nature of the ship and the wonderful itinerary!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Decent sized Cabin, perfectly clean with the best bathroom and shower we have experienced in this level of accommodation!

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

Stayed one night here to accommodate an easy departure the next day!

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

3 out of 5
It is difficult to get into the center of Bruges, so we skipped it!

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Always enjoy this amazing city! You can take the tram from the Cruise Port across the street into Central Station, just use a credit card to enter and depart!

Stavanger, Norway

LovelytTown but the Hop-On-Off Bus was just too expensive to use!

Geiranger, Norway

5 out of 5
Took a private excursion from GetYourGuide at a much cheaper price than NCL's and the experience was so amazing to see the Fjords from up high! Unforgettable!

Alesund, Norway

4 out of 5
Beautiful City! Take the little train from the port to get around town and up to the viewing area on the mountain!

Akureyri, Iceland

5 out of 5
Gorgeous and scenic was our daytime departure from this nice city! A cold wind made the walk from the ship up the causeway too much to handle, without winter gear!

Reykjavik, Iceland

4 out of 5
The cruise port lies in an industrial area with little views of this wonderful city! Took the "Golden Circle Tour" from GetYourGuide for a substantial savings versus NCL's inflated price! The 7 1/2 hour tour was long but definitely worth it, even on a cloudy day!

Disembarkation

Typical end of cruise experience, but overall well executed! Finding your transport from there was somewhat challenging!

We did the same cruise and had a fabulous time. I got lost once, but I figured it was my sense of direction and not the ship. We loved the food, bar service, and all the venue. I would definitely sail on the prima again.

Appreciate your detailed review. Glad you enjoyed your ports of call. Sorry to hear that the ship’s layout was so confusing.
