Review summary

This 12 day cruise was the correct length. We love sea days and the time between island stops was great. There are too many cruises that NCL does that does not allow sea days between stops, mainly due to how close the stops are. For us, finding the correct balance is more enjoyable and a little less costly.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
This time getting checked in was simple and quick. It seems that the staggered check-in time are beginning to work. Still have to wait be fore allowed to board the ship but that is understandable as the prep the ship for the new guests.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Not much of a drinker but the food was very good and the specialty restaurants were excellent and should be as you pay for them.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Did the pool area and miniature golfing. Not too difficult to find chairs near the infinity pool but the ship was only 70% full. At this time, the golf was free as they are fixing technical difficulties. Several activities had fees. It seems that NCL is beginning to nickel and dime cruisers for several activities.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
They entertainment was great. The talent of the performers was exceptional. Only one of the shows was not up to par. One of the two comedians were exceptional and the other was not our type of comedy. He wasn't vulgar, just didn't seem to connect with the audience.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All workers went above board, very friendly and helpful, at least the ones we interacted with.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is different. We weren't keen on the design but by the end of the cruise we were very happy with how and why they did with the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was very comfortable and clean. I would expect that as the ship has had very limited paying customers. It would be interesting to see how clean they stay after a year or so of use. The room was in a very good location that allowed to get around quickly. It was further from the food areas as those are always at the back of the ship, but doing some walking helped.

Ship tip

Keep an open mind and give the ship some time. It will grow on you like it did for us.

Ports of call

New York, New York

This is our second time here. Much better experience than the first time. No excursion but we did come in a day earlier and went to a Broadway show.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Excursion was good. Got to see different things. Not to impressed with Coconut Cove beach. Looked better in pictures but must be one of the nicest beaches there.

Willemstad, Curacao

Always a nice port to visit. Clean. We did swimming with turtles, a private excursion. Took us through the other side of the island and saw the desert portion that is not the typical resort part. The swimming was a great experience.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

3 out of 5
Did not do much at this port. Did the Samur Sail, Beach and Snorkel excursion. It was interesting riding on a Japan Junk to get to Little Bonaire Island. Snorkeling was exceptional. Beach was very clean and crystal clear waters.

Oranjestad, Aruba Did not visit port

Stayed on the ship to take advantage of the ship's activities.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Been here many time. The time here was VERY short this time. We always do a beach on our own at this stop.

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

Got off and took a transport the airport.

Disembarkation

This was better than most. Stayed in room as long as possible then had to go to common area. Wait in common area was not long before being let off the ship.
