Review summary

I could go into the many aspects of the awful cruise we had on the Norwegian Pearl but I'll concentrate on this one .. your property is not safe. I misplaced my phone the day we departed .. rather I know exactly where it was and reported it to lost and found when we left the ship. Their lost and found department CANNOT be contacted other than submitting a form. My iPhone 13 Pro Max ($1,300) had my name, phone #, and email address on the case. I watched on Apple's "Find My" service as it sailed the Caribbean for the next 2 weeks until it either ran out of power or the person who stole it (yes, stole. It knew it wasn't theirs when they picked it up) got it off the ship and sold it to a confederate ashore. I last saw it at Senior Frog's in Freeport. NCL did absolutely nothing to find this despite the fact that every meal, drink, etc we had on that ship was in their records. The last one should have been easy enough to find. The waiter who took our order would have been know, the supervisor of the restaurant, O'Shehan's would have been know. If anyone had done ANYTHING to find it, I would likely have it now. So I wait and went without a phone, which I use for my business, for the 10 days they said it would take in their email before I had to buy another. I have now received the "we're working on it, please allow 10 days" email 4 TIMES!! I have called twice about it, and believe me that's difficult as you have to fib your way through the phone prompts to actually get a person .. they won't talk to you unless you're booking your next "dream vacation", and even THEY can't talk to anyone in the lofty Lost and Found department. If you take away nothing from this review other than this, please know that NCL DOES NOT CARE about it's customers. Period. We will never consider them for travel in the future and you are advised not to as well.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Despite having been refurbished in 2021, the Pearl shows a lot of wear .. rust on the exterior, the ship's graphics are peeling.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The one thing we liked about this ship and this cruise was the cabin. Well laid out and comfortable.

Ship tip

DO NOT cruise on this ship or with this company!!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

1 out of 5
Worst people in America live in Miami. From past experience we would not set foot in this city again were it not necessary to go somewhere else.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Once you get out of the cruise line's controlled area, it's like being descended upon by harpies. In general the place is a dump and unsafe.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

nothing but shopping

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Went to a beach on the French side and have never been to a beach that was in this kind of awful condition.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Watch out for the people with monkeys .. they're trying to put a monkey on you, take your picture and then harass you for $$. I had to get pretty aggressive with them to get them to leave us alone.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Did not visit port

Rained that day .. didn't get off the ship

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas Did not visit port

Norwegian dropped this off our schedule claiming the seas were too rough to do a tendering operation. How they knew this the day before we were to arrive is a mystery. On the day we should have been there, the seas were just fine. I think they dropped it from the itinerary because this is their island and your shipboard food and drink plans apply there. So they ditched the destination to save $$

Disembarkation

They disembark by "color" so you don't know the order in which you disembark without a cheat sheet which we didn't have in the restaurant .. got rushed to leave and left my phone behind.

N FYI my son left his phone last may in Puerto Plato in the restroom and we had no one to blame but him, a hard lesson to learn.

You learned the hard way that cruise lines will not rush to assist you after you leave the ship. Also sounds like you didn’t have a password on your phone. On my phone, they have a minute for it to be idle, then they’ll need a password to get back on my phone. It’s annoying, but if anyone steals my phone or picks it up after I lost it, they won’t keep it for long. Thank you, for sharing your experience.

You lost your phone and it’s their fault? You automatically blame a crew member when you have no proof and it could easily have been another guest that took it. Complaining they cancelled a port due to expected weather is a bit much. Believe it or not, in 2024 they have the technology to know what the weather will be like the next day.

How do you know a ship staff member stole your phone? It could've been another guest! You messed up and left your phone - that is your fault, not NCL's.

So you left your phone and it's NCL's fault because you where rushed to disembarking. If you had read the daily or checked the disembarking schedule posted at customer service you would have known the times that the colors are expected to be called.
