The Norweagian staff in fine dining made this trip one of the most awful traveling experiences of my life. I was completely humiliated in front of my family and hundreds of people while on vacation due to the dress code that was not posted in Indigo. I was allowed in with what I had on and my attire was not addressed at the door which would have altered my dining choices. The other fine dinning places have the dress code listed at the check in station. Indigo does not. I am disabled and I was forced to leave after sitting down and ordering my food. I just had surgery and I wear a hat to hide my scars until it heals and I was told to remove my hat or change my hat. I the hostess should not have let me in the dining area if what I had on was a problem. With my injured back, I had to get up and walk back to my room just to get another hat. I've never felt so low in my life. I will not sail with this company again. The hostess was so rude and ignorant. The disorganization of this cruise line clearing customs in Orlando took the fun out of the vacation and put my family and other passengers in a dangerous situation and a very bad mood. This process of clearing customs just to re-enter the USA has to change for the sake of the passengers.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Embarking in New York was wonderful. Very quick and organized. Embarking when the boat arrived in Orlando was the worst travel experience of my life. We had to get off of the boat at 7:30 am to check into customs even if we had no intention of leaving the boat. We then had to wait until 10:30 am once customs cleared the boat to return back to the ship. People began yelling refund. For travelers with children, this is a nightmare.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was excellent, but the staff in specialty were among the rudest people that I ever encountered in my life.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
My only complaint is that too many kids were in the hot tub. Not enough hot tubs or areas for adults that do not want to deal with the kids on board.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The entertainment was the highlight of the ship. Every night someone amazing entertained the audience.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
The room stewards were kind and excellent. The real issue I had was with the personnel in the fine dining area. They caused a huge scene over the dress code after my family and I were seated. The issue should have been addressed at the door not while seated eating. I have never been so disrespected in all my life as I was by this staff in the fine dining area.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was very clean. Someone was always cleaning the ship morning, noon and night.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
As a constant traveler, I was happy with the size and cleanliness of the cabin. Just major issues with the bathroom door squeaking and the bathroom electrical socket not working properly. I made several request to have the issues addressed, but the ship did not fix the problem in my cabin.
Ship tip
Be prepared to wait a very long time when entering the US at Orlando. Bring food and a phone.
Bermuda was an excellent place to visit, but very hard to get around in a taxi and on public transportation. The excursions were way too expensive for this location and involved water activities. Not much to do for the non swimmers.
This was the worst place I have ever traveled to on a ship. This port was so disorganized. The trip was ruined because of the long wait in customs holdings that frustrated most passengers and caused many to miss excursions because it was not fully explained by the staff what was involved. Norweageian made it like customers could just get off of the boat and show the documents to the customs officers and then re-board the boat. My family had no intention of getting off of the boat, but we had to check into customs. Disturbed our sleep to have to get up at 7:15 am just to check in. The boat also did not have food ready when passengers were allowed to re-board and it because a really unruly crowd. The entire group of passengers waiting in the customs area began to yell "refund, refund." Additional officers were called to maintain order. It became very dangerous on the boat when passengers began pushing and shoving to get what little food was available after a 3 hour wait. This stop put a lot of people in a very bad mood because of the experience at and really took the fun out of the vacation and distrust with the cruise line.
This was the best stop. Lots of places to take photos. Shaded areas with lots of trees and staff ready to assist. The only downside to this stop was riding the ferry boat from the ship to get to the island.
This was one of the best stops. The excursion to the zoo I would highly recommend. Norweagian had many excursion options priced reasonably. The tour guide was excellent and really made this trip worthwhile.
