Adventure in Alaska

Sail Date: July 10, 2016

Reviewed: 4 months ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Balcony

Adventure cruise. Lots of activities off the boat. Cruise through glacier bay was a highlight. Time in port was a limiting factor, especially in Victoria. Wish we could trade some Skagway time for more in Victoria. Generally good selection of activities especially for a multigenerational trip. Everyone could do their own thing and get back to discuss it for dinner. Food was a bit disappointing, especially all the Atlantic salmon on an Alaska cruise. Crew was friendly and efficient, especially our cabin steward.

Cabin / Stateroom
Good bathroom. Well arranged for couple. Good service from steward.
Children's Programs
Rock wall a hit. Younger kids went to group once and refused to return.
Entertainment Liked the classical string group. Shows in theater seemed lame.
Service and Staff
Food and Dining
Food bland but reasonably good. Very unadventurous menu. Standard restaurants seemed much better than the buffet and weren't crowded. But we couldn't get reservations for a group of 10 except very early or late. Ended up eating at 5:30 most nights, giving the teenagers a chance for 2 suppers.
Seattle, Washington
Juneau, Alaska
Skagway, Alaska
Railroad was the best sightseeing option, but we should have done an adventure excursion.

Tip

Best food was generally the grill lunches midship. Don't think the premium restaurants were worth it, although our granddaughters liked the Brazilian restaurant. Service was good in the regular restaurants, which were much more comfortable civilized than the buffet. Buffet on back of deck was good
