Review summary

Cruise was great. Joy is beautiful and clean. Crew were always working. Even when I got up to go on balcony at 3am they were hosing outside decks down. Cabin was clean however, we were right across from a crew access area and there was banging and scraping noises all night. Also some jerks were smoking in cabin and a couple days couldn't go on my balcony. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke. And someone was smoking weed. Not allergic to that smoke but it smells horrible. Was in hallway and also outside on balcony. Some people are so inconsiderate

Embarkation

Embarkation was in NYC. It was awful. Past cruises were no issues. This time our ship was scheduled to leave port at 11pm. Check-in started at 4. We waited in line outside the pier for 3 hours. They didn't even let people in until after 4. Then of course the line inside. That was ok it moved. We didn't get on board until after 7pm. Kind of feels like we lost an entire day.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
MDRs were great. We did a few specialty restaurants. Cagney's was excellent. Teppanyaki excellent. Food Republic was not good and Q was ok. I wouldn't do it again

Onboard Activities

Lots going on. Always something to stop and watch.

Entertainment

Elements was fantastic. Footloose was good. A little hokey but I enjoyed it. DJ was just ok. Did not play a great selection of music. Live bands were not as good as last year. A lot of Latin music, which I like, but it was saturated with that type. Q country band .. just ok. There was not a great variety of music

Disembarkation

Horrible experience. We were late coming in due to bad currents. Once we docked, coast guard thought it was a great time to do drills with all crew. They called all self assist, then never called another color tag. All the while they were announcing which part of the drill was happening. 3 hours later they called ALL colors, talk about a mass exit of passengers! Horrible
