Review summary

Overall a good time. The weather was cool and sometimes rainy, which put a damper on things, but the cruise itself was fun.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We got to the port around 1pm and went directly to the check in counter - no line up at all. They printed our cards and we were onboard in about 10 minutes. The downside to arriving later is that when we tried to book entertainment once on board, Footloose was the only thing still available.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good overall, but not great. Main dining rooms were good - service was quick, drinks were refilled. Garden Cafe was crazy busy, so we mostly avoided it, but they did have a good variety to choose from.

Le Bistro French Restaurant

4 out of 5

Service was excellent and food was good, but outside of it being a different menu, it was on par with the regular dinning rooms.

Observation Lounge

5 out of 5

Really nice place to hang out.

The Cavern Club

5 out of 5

Beatles tribue band puts on a great show, but arrive early if you want a seat.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Normally, during the day, I would be content reading a book in a lounge chair on a sundeck, but the weather wasn't cooperating, so that wasn't an option. We did find the daytime activities somewhat lacking.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We had reserved the last performance of Footloose, but it was canceled due to injury. We did get in to see Elements through standby and enjoyed it. We caught one comic, and he was very mediocre. Live music in various bars was all pretty good. The Beatles tribute band was the stand out for us. We enjoyed the variety of entertainment offered in the evenings.

Race Track

4 out of 5

These were fun and had a lot of pep.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff were friendly and efficient.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was clean and easy to navigate. The race cars and laser tag take up a lot of outdoor space. I would rather have seen a ropes course and a better mini golf area. Jogging track is basically non-existent as it is covered by deck chairs.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
As a family of 4, we had two adjoining rooms so there was plenty of space. The shower drain was clogged when we arrived, but maintenance resolved the issue quickly. I was surprised that the room did not have a coffee maker. Apparently, these are now by request, so just ask and they will provide one. Beds were amazing. Cabin was always well cleaned, but often not until late afternoon.

Ship tip

Having read reviews on here about how bad the embarkation can be at this port, we decided to pay for priority access. While embarkation turned out to be a breeze, and we chose not to use it to disembark, it did make getting a tender super easy.

Disembarkation

Long line up to get off the ship. We opted not to use our priority access to get off early as our flight didn't leave till 3 pm. We had a leisurely breakfast and then got in line with everyone else. Two hours later... It was cold, windy, and raining when we got off the ship. (Blizzard warning issued later that day) It is a fairly short walk to a tent in the parking lot to pick up suitcases and get on shuttle busses, but we were cold and wet by the time we got there.
