The Joy is a beautiful ship. We loved how it never felt very crowded. My favorite thing was the casino. I appreciated how the smoking area was contained to a room vs throughout the whole casino. The observation lounge was very nice as well. We would definitely cruise this ship again.
Embarkation

This was pretty bad. & we were Haven guests. I can't imagine how it was being a non-haven guest. I would not cruise out of this terminal again.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
All were very good. Lots of yummy options but NCL really needs to get with it for food allergies. Their cross contamination procedures are basically non existent, sadly. I'm only gluten free (one of the easiest to handle nowadays) & a noodle was in my sauteed kale. The chef came out to speak to me &stated they were cooking pasta next to my kale. That's very concerning from an allergy standpoint. & I was in the Haven. So you'd expect the Haven chef to be top notch....
Onboard Activities

There are lots of things offered on this ship. Things that are free & things that have an upcharge. Theres a wide range for all types of ages & price ranges.
Entertainment

Footloose was good if it were a high school musical. But Elements was incredible!
Service and Staff

Every staff person we met was very friendly. The Haven staff was incredible.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was in great condition. It's very beautiful & well designed. Very spacious. It was being sanitized constantly as well.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
This cabin was phenomenal! We absolutely loved it. The only reason I cant give it 5 stars is because it was so loud. :( Every shutter the ship made shook the hell out of the cabin... it was right above crew bar and at the bow of the ship so lots of banging, etc. I woul not book this cabin again due to the noise unfortunately.
We hired a private driver to take us around the city. It was okay. Was only $100 so I'm glad we did it but I wouldn't return to Mazatlan. I would just stay on the ship next time.
