Review summary

Love NCL... but will not sail on the Joy or Encore again or out of San Pedro. East Coast when it comes to sailing out of the US.

Arrive early! So glad we arrived at 8:30am. The terminal staff are very disorganized. Since we decided to arrive at 8:30, we missed a lot of the slow downs and issues others told us about. When the staff allowed us to enter the terminal to go through security, a few the the employees began to argue in front of guests on how the lines should be formed.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Food was typical but good. Specialty restaurants are worth it especially if you have the dinning perk.

Elements was great... not as big of a fan of the floor loose production.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
I had read a few reviews that service from staff members on this ship is hit or miss. While I know the crew puts in many hours and have to deal with some over the top passengers at times, I did come across many moody or less than enthusiastic staff members. This was a bit of a disappointment considering I have for the most part always received great service on NCL. Wondering if this is a management issues that’s coming out through the team.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Not terrible... but definitely room for improvement in the public areas (both cleaning & design).

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Nice room... this specific cabin has a larger balcony compared to their other in the same category because of the slanted angle. I highly recommend booking it if you are looking for more space.

Poorly designed port for cruises. Staff is very disorganized.

Everything went smooth with no lines getting off, baggage pick-up or customs.
