Review summary

I was blown away! The cruise exceeded my expectations! We would definitely do the same trip again. Norwegian is a great company. Just wish they would have worked to get our rooms closer together. We booked the cheapest inside room and ate only at the included dining spots and can't imagine why anyone would need to upgrade. Love the whole experience.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

We only ate at the 4 included restaurants and they were all wonderful. My 5 kids all liked the variety and kid friendly choices. The service was exceptional! The menu was different every night so we felt like their was a nice variety.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My kids really enjoyed the Race Track. It was definitely worth the small expense. Laser tag was fun too and worth the money. I used the fitness center every day and never had trouble getting on a machine even though the ship was a capacity. We used the adult only hot tub and my kids LOVED the waterslides. The Kids Club Splash Academy was amazing. It was so nice to drop the kids off for free for a few hours each day and get a break. We even left the kids on the boat at the Splash Academy which my wife and I explore the Butchart Gardens in Victoria.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Footloose and Elements were both great! Elements was a bit cheesy and Footloose was PG-13 which was a bit awkward to bring my 7 and 4 year old kids too. I wish we would have left them at the kids club. The comedy show was great. We loved the spanish guitar in the Observation Lounge. The trivia games were fun too. We were never bored even on rainy days. Always plenty to do.

Children's Programs

My kids loved going to the Kids Club! I think we as parents might have loved it even more. They supervisors were engaging. They always came back showing us the great activities they had done. I was expecting video games and movies to keep them entertained but that wasn't the case. The staff seemed to really care and get to know each of our 5 kids by name!

Service and Staff

We chose an inside stateroom with bunk beds just for the price. It was great and worked out perfectly. We had two rooms. My only complaint is that I wish they would have made more of an effort to have our rooms closer together. We were 7 floors apart from our kids but could easily call them on the room telephones. Our room steward was great. He got to know our names and came in 3 times a day to service our room. The Waiter's were super kind many of them got to know our kids. My son looked forward to seeing Adrian every night as he made him feel so good.

Ship Quality

Loved the layout. The rooms are clean and well organized. Never had too long of wait at the elevators.

Cabin / Stateroom

We packed 4 people into and inside room and felt great.

Ship tip

Schedule the shows and make your dinner reservations right when you get on the ship or before you deport if possible.

Ports of call

Ketchikan, Alaska

We did the lumberjack show which was just OK. We also did the Duck Boat tour and our guide was fantastic. It was pouring rain so we didn't get to see much but still enjoyed it. The town seems great and would love to go back and explore more. We booked both tours directly with the companies instead of Norwegian and saved a bunch.

Juneau, Alaska

The city and backdrop were incredible. We did the gold mine tour and panning for gold. It was just OK as well. The kids were a bit bored with the tour.

SCENIC GLACIER CRUISING

This was one of the highlights of our trip. We loved seeing the Glacier and neon blue floating ice bergs. The waterfalls and scenery was breathtaking. After Juneau we went straight to the Observation Deck to stake our the best spot and stayed there until 7:30 pm just enjoying the scenery.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

This was our favorite stop. Our 4 yr old twins did the Chick Pea course which was incredible and a bargain since they could go as many times as they wanted. They did the course 6-8 times over a 5 hour period with breaks in between. My wife and son did the Adventure Zip Ropes Course and they loved it. I did the Zip Rider which was soooo much fun. We also went to the beach and turned over rocks and found tons of crabs, star fish etc. Loved this place. The nature walk was fun too.

Victoria, British Columbia

Around the boat there isn't much to do. It's 45 minutes to Butchart Gardens. We took a taxi which was $55 each way. We left the kids on the boat.

Disembarkation

We lined up after eating breakfast at 7:00 and were off the ship in our car by 8:00. It was smooth and easy.

Glad to hear someone left a review about an inside stateroom! I thought I was the only one who was not booking a balcony. Was there enough storage room for luggage? And do you have any pics of the room? Thanks for a great review!

Be fair, was on the same ship the race track maybe got 50 groups of 6 to drive. Water slides hardly ever open. 80% shut down related to weather or unfriendly sea conditions. Victoria, Joy has one of one of the longest port visits of any ship, at 57 yo i can hoof it in 30mins to the downtown core...walk half the distance and take a water taxi and have a truly amazing adventure around the inner harbor with float planes landing and flying next to you. So much time there compared to any other vessel.

Do you remember what nights Footloose and Elements were played in the theatre? Cruising in August. Thanks

Great review! May I ask how old your kids are? I have a “tween” boy and I’m trying to gauge what he’ll like.
