Fun, fun, fun. by Tlewis006

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Loved our cruise. The only complaint is the food in the specialty dining. It wasn’t very good. The main dining was the best.

Alaska southbound Jewel by gabargar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

There was something for everyone and was impressed that NCL made this cruise handicapped accessible. The food was mediocre, but plenty to choose from. I was expecting to be served the seafood from Alaska (salmon, halibut) and that was disappointing. The ship is worn and dated. The blanket on our bed, inside the duvet cover was old, worn and discolored.

Awesome Alaska Cruise by JHTraveler

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The food was good. The entertainment, and specifically the dancers, was great. Activities aboard ship were ample and fun. I loved the dancing and included exercise classes. The cruising by the fjords and glaciers was spectacular. Service is excellent. One issue, which overshadowed cruise at the end. I found out that they charged me for the trip from airport to cruise port. They said it was covered, and it should have been. But then they charged me after giving me a receipt that said $0. The train from airport to port.

An Awesome Alaskan Cruise! by DebfromPgh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This cruise was a great way to experience Alaska! Each port had something different to offer and Vancouver is a "must see" city at the beginning of your trip. We took our 2 young adults with us and definitely enjoyed this as a family vacation. The ship was clean & beautiful and had lots to offer in the way of activities & entertainment. The staff was wonderful! The only downfall is that the cruise line needs to include a lounge with current music to appeal to those who want that. Too many oldies for the younger cruisers and for those who like Top 40 music.

Nice cruise by dsvend85

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Alaskan Cruise out of Vancouver and ended in Seward. I would recommend the train to take you to the airport in Seward you really get to see a lot. The towns we visited were very commercialized from the cruise ships which was disappointing ( if you have been on any cruises you know what I mean diamonds international and tanzanite international to name a few) but the excursions were good. I expected more seafood than what we received but the food was good.

Alaska is magnificent scenery. On the ship you go to places you would not be able to see any other way.

Good Value by dlsalse

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Ever went really well on the ship. Anytime there was entertainment it was way too loud. We couldn’t find a quite bar to go to unless outside and it was too cold. Service was great though. All staff was very friendly. We did all our tours independently and worked out great.

Cruising Alsaka a Must DO. But do it WELL. by nicktaluja

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The overall places in Alaska are beautiful, although we could have skipped some ports like Skagway [for sure we didnt do the dog sledding at $300 per person which could have been fun]. It should be on every person's bucket list; however if you decide to do it budget an extra $1000 per person and do it right. And better to do it without kids; we took ours with kids hearing other traveler reviews, but its hit or miss.

A Bucket List Cruise to Alaska by spert

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The scenery in Alaska is magnificent. Although the Jewel doesn't have all the bell and whistles that the newer mega-ships have, it has everything needed for a fun cruise. The crew was very friendly and helpful.

60th Birthday Celebration!! by sheliaamos1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

A childhood friend and I were celebrating 1958 (the year of our birth). This was her first cruise and it will be hard to top. The views and excursions were excellent, and the meals on the ships restaurants were superb. I would advise the drink and specialty dining packages. And take plenty of electronics to capture the breathtaking views.

A great time and a great way to visit Alaska by luchtm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was a great way to see Alaska. I had taken the trip before on NCL, but wanted to take friends who've never been on a cruise before... The verdict is still out. The cruise life is not for everyone, but NCL does it in a great way. The ship offers lots of amenities and activities for everyone. The staff and crew were very attentive and helpful. It's not easy trying to please everyone, but they handle it well... The ports of call were wonderful. Really liked Icy Strait Point (Hoonah) because we were the only ship there that day. Made for a less hectic visit. Really enjoyed spending time in Hoonah and the walk to the village.

Very nice cruise by horbacz51

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Booked a cabin for 4 people and got a room with only 3 beds. Went to Guest Services to see if a change could be made and they said that the ship was fully booked and no change could be made. They decided to put a cot in the room which left no room on either side of the beds to get out and had to get off at the end of the bed.

Another Unique Experience by shazamdroid

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Transpacific

We chose this itinerary to experience a repositioning cruise. For that reason, I found the entire cruise enjoyable because we had several sea days in which to relax. Can't say that I would do this again because Petropavlovsk and Hoonah were big disappointments. The Japan ports were the best!
