Review summary

The overall places in Alaska are beautiful, although we could have skipped some ports like Skagway [for sure we didnt do the dog sledding at $300 per person which could have been fun]. It should be on every person's bucket list; however if you decide to do it budget an extra $1000 per person and do it right. And better to do it without kids; we took ours with kids hearing other traveler reviews, but its hit or miss.

The Embarkation process is terrible @ Vancouver so if you can avoid, I would. We were asked to pick a time when we would show up out of a few selected time slots left. But no point in picking a time as the time to get through was >1.5hrs. The excuse was that all people shows up at the same time so they had no choice but to ignore the original timing commitment.

If you are considering eating at the buffet, reconsider to save a bit more money and spend in the specialty dining. The buffet food is horrible which is understandable since they make it in mass volume; meats are usually always overcooked; everything seems to be cooked with excessive amount of oil (except salads). Thank god for fruit which is ok; limited selection since you are on a ship.

We sailed on the NCL Jewel May 2017. We had a wonderful time. No complaints. 5 star experience. Excursions were great. We got lucky with lots of sunshine. The views from Mt.Roberts tram ride were spectacular. We went round trip from Seattle.
