Review summary

It's definitely a worthwhile cruise mostly because of the magnificent views and landscape, but also for the food, drinks and amazing service on board. The downside is the ports of calls. Most of those cities in Alaska are tourist traps. Vancouver is absolutely gorgeous, though.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
The process was OK, but nobody informed us that the departure port was NOT in Anchorage, so we had to find a last-minute transportation which cost us $200 extra.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Fantastic food and drinks.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We enjoyed the fitness center the most. The reading room and playing cards room are both very small for the demand.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
In general, very good entertainment (special kudos to the Cirque performance), but the Divos & Divas was sub to par (because of the male singer).

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Truly an excellent experience. Even though we prepaid for tips, we tipped some of the staff extra because of the exceptional service provided.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This is an old ship that, honestly, needs some revamping.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Be prepared not to find one of those ships you see in the movies and on TV. As I mentioned above, it's an old shipo that needs some revamping.

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

2 out of 5
Just an embarkation port; there's nothing to do. You better spend your extra time in Anchorage, which is about 120 miles away, by the way.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

2 out of 5
Nothing much to do. You better get some shore excursion.

Juneau, Alaska

2 out of 5
For being the state capital, it's a big disappointment.

Skagway, Alaska

2 out of 5
A tourist trap. Nothing much to do or see.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Out of all ports, it's the best. A cute town, with some nice spots, but that's about it.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
Majestic views. By far, the most beautiful one.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
Amazing city, with lots of things to do and see. If you have some extra time during your visit, spend it here.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was better than I expected. Fast and stress free.

Did you even get off the ship? There are soooo many things to do in Alaska, and like most parts in the world, they are there for the tourists. Don't blame the cruise lines for you failing to do your research before you left. You should have know, and it's clearly in the the itinerary that there is no airport where the ship docks, and that you have to take a shuttle to airport. It's a shame you failed to see some of the amazing places in Alaska through tge excursions or just on foot in the ports.
