Review summary

Cruising is the way to go! This was the second time we cruised to Alaska. We left the itinerary to the experts who took excellent care of us. I always say I love to be waited on, no cooking, or cleaning and great entertainment.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Lots of walking and had to show our passports several times which might of been due to embarking from Vancouver. NCL personal were very helpful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining rooms were never crowded and the service was great. There was a good variety of foods in the buffets but the coffee was often cold. There were two servers who sang to us in the morning. The specialty dining was very nice and I especially liked the escargot offered in the French restaurant.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There seemed to be more activities for children than adults. Zumba classes would have been nice.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I enjoyed all the shows. The entertainers were very professional. I didn't care for the comedian for the adult show but we were warned.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was very attentive and friendly. I Missed having the towel animals to greet us at night though.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was clean and up to date, but I missed the carpet that had the fish swimming up stream to guide us to where we were going.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We loved the location as it was close to dining and the elevator. We had a few issues but were corrected quickly. The slider was very difficult to slide. A fuse blew so we didn't have light in the bathroom and the TV had to be replaced. There was enough room for the scooter. A chair might have been nice since the room was larger. Since I am short I had trouble hanging up clothes. The drop down rack didn't work for me as it was difficult to handle. When you opened the closest door all the way it pressed the emergency call button.

Ship tip

Don't arrive too early, wait until after the big rush.

There was Lots of walking and we had our passports checked several times. I think sailing out of Seattle is easier.

I prefer to dock right in Ketchikan as it's a long bus trip both ways. The reception area was interesting but very cold!!!!

We extended our trip with the land tour. There was a bus waiting for us right off the ship.
