Review summary

Cruise was ok but felt that there were too many extra fees that usually included in other cruise lines pricing. Paying for coffee, even if it was just $4-5, just seemed silly when we were drinking call brand alcohol at no extra charge with the drink package. Most of the crew was great and were interesting to get to know but others didn't seem to care so that was kind of uneven. The rooms were comfortable and the food in the buffet was better than expected so overall good experience.

Food and Dining

We had the drink package but the specialty coffees were extra. Why nickel & dime us to pay for $3-6.00 items?

Maltings Whiskey Bar

5 out of 5

Love this bar. Very comfortable and the only bar that offered small snacks. Our waiter Gojko was excellent and we learned much about him and live in Bosnia.

Tsar's Main Dining Room

Food ok, not a comfortable place to eat. Seemed like it was trying to hard to be "fancy".

Teppanyaki

Great food and value - enjoyed the show!

Shaker's Martini Bar

3 out of 5

Good drinks, but it sometimes the drinks had an extra charge and sometimes not.

Garden Cafe/Kid's Cafe

5 out of 5

Better than expected buffet. Good service. Wish they would have announced at the beginning of the week when Mexican night was so we could have planned our schedule to include it!

Azura Main Dining Room

Average food, good service

Onboard Activities

Took cold for pool in AK, didn't use other facilities. Most daytime seemed centered on selling us supplements, spa services, liquor rather than entertain us. The worst was a digestive supplement being sold over the lunch hour.

Spinnaker Lounge

Comfortable place to drink and watch the view outside - especially since it was cold/or raining outside. Good drinks too.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Bar/Restaurant staff (especially Gojko in the Maltings Bar) and room stewards (Leo) were great. The store staff did their best to make us feel unworthy when I wouldn't spend an extra $40 to get a necklace I had admired. Maybe they would sell more if they didn't talk down to guests.

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

Did the Seavey dog sled excursion - it was great. Also the 3 hour Resurrection Bay cruise also fun except for the rain which kept us inside most of the time.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

We did a whale watching tour offered by Viator that was great. Also had great food at the BBQ place near port.

Juneau, Alaska

Too short of time in this port - saw good shopping, although way too many jewelry stores.

Skagway, Alaska

White Pass Railway is worth the ticket. Also Skagway Brewing for lunch!

Ketchikan, Alaska

Rained all day but town was cool, nice shopping and had a great lunch at Fat Stan's Pizza
