Review summary

The scenery was amazing!! the food was delicious and the crew was wonderful! This is a restful cruise - not too much to do on the sea days but to enjoy being pampered.  In addition, the evening entertainment was outstanding and we attended it all! We feel renewed and awed by the scenery we were able to experience.

While the specialty restaurants request reservations in advance they often have empty tables after 8:30pm and this information is made available on the TV monitors; so we went to the French restaurant without reservations and inquired about eating there - the very young hostess launched in to a "reprimand" about how reservations are really required and essential - she used a long drawn out example of the Hibachi restaurant and what would happen if people did not make reservations and just walked up to eat! I was so uncomfortable and upset...I asked if there was space and she said yes - so we entered "Le Bistro" and was seated way in the back corner in a huge booth that sat 6 to 8 people and it was just me and my wife; so we asked if there was a table for two (many were open and could be easily seen) - we asked if the one by the window was available - by this time it was 8:45pm and we were told it was for people with reservations - no one ever came and sat there!! We were seated by a wall and we feel "punished" I felt reprimanded by a young woman the same age as the college students I teach at a university in CT. Not a great experience!!

SO we LOVED our cabin; Bruno our concierge was so nice, but we only inquired of him once to make a reservation for us at the Italian restaurant - he did not ask the time we'd like and made it at a time we could not go to it. He was going to a meeting and not near his computer, but all he had to do was briefly ask the time we were looking for - a few minutes would have made the difference to help us ... so we handled things ourselves from then on forward which was fine! We loved this cruise!!

Ship tip

We loved having a continental breakfast in our cabin and being able to watch the scenery go by from our balcony!
