Apparently they decided quantity of food is more important than quality.

Review summary

I could not have been more disappointed with the quality of the food on the Norwegian Jewel. It was the topic of discussion among many passengers, and theories even began to circulate including that they were trying to force you into the paid restaurants to have a decent meal. There was plenty of food, but it was all terrible. Room service was an absolute joke, as you would be better off eating the dirty carpet in your stateroom, it would at least have some flavor, terrible flavor, but at least some flavor.  Don't assume that since this ship departs from New Orleans, a Mecca of good food, that the chefs onboard have ever ventured into the city and learned a thing or two, they haven't!
