We were very nervous going on our first cruise. We truly did not know what to expect, (we had heard a lot of negative things about cruising). But we were quite pleased with our experience. The ship was beautiful! It was really big and there were tons of things to do on board and lots of options for food. All of the service was excellent and consistent.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

Most of the food was fabulous. The Garden Buffet was a little plain, but had quite a variety to accomodate a wide variety of tastes. We loved Cagney's Steakhouse. It was very lovely and had live piano music! We were unaware that some places would have cover charges and would have to pay extra. We knew that alcoholic beverages were not included, but did not realize there was a charge for soft drinks. All those extras really added up. Make sure to make reservations at the specialty restaurants, otherwise it was unlikey you could eat there. It was very helpful to have the restaurant readerboards throughout the ship to tell you which ones were busy.
Entertainment

A lot of the events started quite early in the morning. But there was quite a variety of things to do. The game shows were the best! We participated in two games shows, they were great! We also enjoyed the movie trivia nights as well. The nightly live music (piano & spanish guitar) was wonderful. We went to a few shows (comedian, second city), they were okay. When we were at sea, they were not enough pool chairs for everyone. That was a little frustrating, so the next day we were at sea, we had to get up really early to snag chairs.
Service and Staff

The staff was great!!! From each reastaurant the service was outstanding and consistant. We only had one problem one evening finding a place to eat. We didn't make reservations and one hostess was a bit rude about that. Other than that everything was fine. The housekeeping staff was great as well. They made up the rooms daily and had daily turn down service, with cute towel oragami and mints. It was great. Also, the same two housekeeping staff servied our rooms each day, that was nice. Also, having a daily guide of events was great.

Cabin / Stateroom

We decided to go with a suite, (because it was our honeymoon). It was great, a little small, but was just fine for 2 people. We had a balcony on the 11th floor. There was a hair dryer, coffee pot (& coffee), shampoo, body wash, lotion, minibar with a fridge & a fruit basket the 1st day of the cruise. We had a full size bed and a sofa that could be tuned into a bed. We heard some of the inside cabins and regular rooms were quite cramped and did not have enough room for walking in, so we really lucked out and would recommend a suite to others. It was definately pricer but well worth the money. Also get one near the elevators if you don't want to do a lot of walking.
We went to the caves, kayaking & beach escape. The boat ride was much too long to get there (over an hour). The cave was a waste of time, but the kayaking was nice. We never made it to a beach. Plus, there was no meal and this excursion took the whole day. This was the most expensive shore excursion we went on and we feel we did ot get our money's worth.
Did not feel safe in this city. We were constantly bombarded by taxi drivers and tour operaters. My husband went golfing and he said it was alright. I went shopping in the quaint gift shops on port. Things were in walking distance, but almost everything was closed due to some holiday on the island. I wish I would have known that so I could have gone on an excursion to the beach. The cruise shopping consultants said this was THE PLACE to shop, very disapointed.
Went to the beach at Rodney Bay. It was nice and had a little boardwalk area with shops and restaurants. A bit of drive to get there, but the tour guide gave a talk about the city on the way.
We did the pub crawl. A bus took us all around (and up) the island. It was beautiful! The tour guide gave us a lot of history and made us a delicious chicken lunch at one of the stops. We loved it. (Would not recommend for non-drinkers)
Went to the beach. The tour we went on was at 8am, much too early for the beach. It was raining as well. The tour operater were also a bit unorganized. The beach area was nice, but lots of vendors trying to sell you things, very annoying.
