Review summary

The ship was magnificent in appearance. The interior colors and decoration were fun, rich, and cleverly executed! No expense was spared in the finishes. The cabins were nicely designed and efficient. We loved our Mini-Suite with the balcony!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate in both main dining rooms, the Garden Buffet, and "Cagney's" Steak House! The food was excellent all over the ship. The extra paid in the specialty restaurants was not excessive for the quality!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
EXCELLENT!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was cheerful and helpful at all times! They were always clean and pleasant to be around.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout and size of the ship were friendly and easy to navigate; i.e., the carpeting in the cabin hallways was a colorful design of fish swimming forward. When you left your cabin, you immediately knew which direction was "forward" or "aft" by the direction of the fish! The common areas were immaculate at all times!

Cabin / Stateroom

BEAUTIFUL!

Ports of call

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

There wasn't enough time to visit the museums...and, too much time to "hang out".
Don't Miss: Gold and Silver Bridge

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

3 out of 5
It was a dirty city, and the graffiti was disappointing!
Don't Miss: St. Peter's and the Colliseum

Naples, Italy

We loved "Highlights of Capri, Sorrento & Pompeii" and would like to go back to visit Sorrento and Capri. We enjoyed Pompeii, but it made for a very long and tiring day. Too much time was spent in Pompeii.
Don't Miss: Sorrento and Capri

Messina, Sicily

We would have liked to spend more time in Taormina. The Winery Tour was pleasant and the food outstanding. It was nice to participate in their culture.
Don't Miss: The "flavor" of the culture!

Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France

5 out of 5
We did the "Nice & Monaco" tour. It was fabulous in all aspects! It was our favorite place!
Don't Miss: See it all!

Pros: We've been on 8 cruises, and the "Jewel" was the best in all categories! The ship was magnificent in appearance; food was outstanding; crew cheerful and efficient; cabin was beautiful; entertainment was great! The tours were as described and efficiently operated!

Cons: Not enough cruise / shipboard time. Planes to and from the ship were very uncomfortable. Seats and aisles too close and narrow. If offered, we would have purchased first class accommodations!
