Norwegian Jade to Norway Fjords by MadMaxTours

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The only less than perfect experience was the food and service in the main dining rooms. I miss the relationship and familiarity from the waiter & staff. Not getting the same wait staff means they don't know your special requests and your likes and dislike. The food was good but not exceptional. The service was barely average. We don't use the specialty dining rooms due to the extra charge. I expect the experience in the specialty restaurants is better since they have to justify the charge. The food and staff in the other food restaurants were excellent.

9 Night Norwegian Fjords (Southampton Roundtrip) by hugoernst

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Cruise was enjoyable; however, there are no comfortable chairs to sit and read a book. The only comfortable chairs are in the lounges where there was entertainment. Need a few niches where someone can read and enjoy the views.

Stunning Norway! by tyb1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We had a great time on this cruise! I had watched the weather for weeks before this cruise and was worried about rain every day (because that's what the forecast was showing). We did have rain in Haugesund and Flam (and I am sure this impacted our impressions of those ports), but the rest of the days were decent to stunningly beautiful! We went on this cruise with my parents (who are 79), and we all had a great time. We were surprised by the number of kids of all ages on the cruise and weren't sure how much fun they might be having.

Great ports, sometimes too short a stay and felt rushed especially when tenders take so long. by nancyazmail

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Several shows on ship were exceptional especially Elements. No main atrium in middle of ship and elevators were confusing with accessibility very difficult to navigate at times and for disabled very frustrating for having to go to one deck to walk and then have to go back down elevator to access restaurants. Average to decent food in main dining rooms. Very limited 24 hour food in one place only with small menu and so so food. Icecream often not working and not available other than when buffet area open. Better on other lines for late night or special treats. Pizza not good and burgers not so great either. Fish and chips greasy frozen fish...odd while cruising one of the fish havens of the world! Very clean and services were good for most part. Several waiters were not the usual kind and fun folks as some, perhaps due to freestyle dining and not struggling to earn more tips from a specific clientele...not sure. One day very rough seas and everyone was sick. No announcements to direct passengers for help with sickness or how to reduce effects of the rough sea. I think 3.5 rating is accurate.

A beautiful getaway. Norway scenery is breath taking, even amidst the rainy days. by chicqueen1

Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Glad we went. The itineraries were great, better than imagined. Jade was overall a great experience. I met Cruise Director Richard Matic. He is definitely the best cruise director our family has encountered, very friendly and courteous, and always with a smiling face. That's what you want to see when you are on vacation.

Norway June 2018 by dmturner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Norway is incredible and the cruise is what you make of it. Sure there were lines for dinner at times.. so go later or go somewhere else! There were options, after all. Norwegian dropped the ball a bit on this one but it didn’t ruin our fun. The crew tried hard all the way through. We have been on a number of cruises and there were things that were better and worse with each one. Most of the ‘worse’ with this one had to do with other passengers who could have minded their manners a little better.

Fair, outrageously expensive : $ 12.52 for a domestic beer!! We are Platinum card member, NCL did not tell us when the Welcome aboard party would be, it no longer has the Latitudes reward party, half the shows are done by the ships staff. by peterhancke

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

I’m a Platinum card member on NCL. This is my LAST cruise with them. Drink prices are outrageous, a 20 percent gratuity is added on everything, No more Latitude rewards parties for Gold, Platinum card members. NCL tours are double the cost for tours offered ashore. Our friends toke the day tour to Paris, stopped only at Effiel tower the view was through a fence. Did not stop at Notra Dome or Arch D Triumph , just drove by !! Cost : $ 400 !! Demanded their money back, NCL re credited them 30 percent.

HITS AND MISSES by duanyfinancial

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Bottom line, we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise, even though, as Latitudes members, we were never invited to the Latitudes cocktail party. The ports of call were wonderful, the ship was clean and modern, the staff was competent, the food was hit and miss, but the music/entertainment was extraordinary.

A wonderful itinerary and a great cruise! by songbird816

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

I did this itinerary as I love Northern Spain, and had never seen Portugal. This is part of my DNA research, and loved finding that the celtic areas of Spain were part of this itinerary! This cruise is not offered that often, so when it comes around, be sure to book the cruise!

Good cruise by zimmie42

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Since it was my first cruise, I'd hoped it would be great. The excursions were great, but staff did not seem prepared in getting the groups organized. Some of the excursions seemed too rushed and couldn't do all that we were promised we could do. Oft times, the staff at the excursion desk were rude. The service in the "free restaurants" was lacking as we had to wait up to an hour to get our food after it was ordered. Overall, I was disappointed and don't think I'll take another cruise.

TOO LONG AT SEA FIR ME! by assisibuffett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Transatlantic

Ship was clean. Staff was great. Food was good but not enuf variety at buffet. Should have been some lectures on history of ports - not just about shopping. Not enuf interesting activities. I was quite bored. Not smooth getting to excursions. Passengers always yelling about people cutting in line.

Don't go on NCL Jade by brabs57

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Transatlantic

From day one our toilet did not flush at all or only once a day. Out of a 13 day cruise our toilet only worked 4 days with no problem. The customer service staff was helpful, when they saw me heading their way they knew what the problem was. The room steward was very rude when we reported the problem to her, she insisted that I did not know how to flush a toilet. We ended up using the hallway toilets unless it was the middle of the night. The rest of the staff with a few exceptions was very rude. The restaurant staffs, not counting the specialty ones, was of the opinion that once they served your food there was no reason to check on you. Drink refills was a joke, you had to chase someone down and you were lucky if they remembered. As for the excursions, if there is a bank holiday in a country is would be nice to know ahead of time. One stop in France (Brest) was a holiday and nothing was open. We found our soon enough and canceled that excursion. The other excursions were okay. The inspection stop in Portland UK could have been organized a lot better. There we quite a few rumbled feathers that day. Over all I do not think we will ever take a Norwegian cruise again unless it was the only way to get we want to go.

Clean, Comfortable and friendly cruise ship. by RWSchroeder

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Transatlantic

The quality of the food and the menu selections were very good. The specialty restaurants were outstanding and provided the best overall service. The main dining rooms seemed to be hit or miss on the service issue. If you had the right waiter (and you didn't get much choice) the service was very good while others were less attentive and seemed like they were bored being there! The ship was very clean and comfortable and relatively easy to get around. As with the main restaurants, the bars and lounges had some service issues depending who was waiting on you. The entertainment was much better in the bar and lounge areas than the main theater. But, that is my opinion based on my personal likes. On a negative note about NCL: I signed up for the NCL program to bid on an upgraded cabin. What a joke! Don't do it! The ship had many upgrade cabins empty (only 2200 passengers with a capacity of nearly 3000) but no upgrade was offered at my bid. In addition, they did not notify me about any upgrade until 2 days before sailing. I like more advance notice than 2 days of which cabin I will be staying in. The ports of call were mixed as far as interesting. However, May 1, 2018 is an European holiday with many shops and restaurants being closed. Many people didn't realize this and had sighed up for shore excursions that day. When they announced on the ship, the day before (April 30) it was a holiday, many passengers tried to cancel their excursion, but were told they had to do it 48 hours in advance. Overall the cruise was very good, clean comfortable ship with good food and enough enthusiastic crew members to offset the ones who didn't want to be there!

Wow! Who knew? by h2omellon15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Transatlantic

Great overall. Already planning another TransAtlantic. Entertainment was top-notch, although missed George Soloman from P.C.T. cruise last fall. He has significantly broader talent than the opening night performance this cruise. Will NEVER book on the 8th floor forward again. Walls were paper thin and you could hear ever word of every conversation in both adjacent rooms. Had to turn the TV on and volume up pretty loud to drown out the conversations on both sides.

Glad I went--could have been more. by Woodcliff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Good deal and I'm glad that I went, but the service wasn't as good as other cruises--especially at guest services. Food was fine. Entertainment a lot of fun. Didn't love the layout of the ship as there wasn't a "promenade deck" where everything was happening--more compartamentalized. The pool was on the smaller side but didn't feel crowded. Could get a deck chair when we wanted them.

First and worst Norwegian Cruise by mbrowning95

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I will not be going on another Norwegian Cruise. I was highly dissatisfied, perhaps this was simply just a bad cruise but I will not make another mistake by choosing Norwegian again. The food honestly tasted like microwavable lean cuisine. I had one A rated meal over the span of 5 days. I am currently waiting to hear back from Norwegian.
