Review summary

The food on board the NCL Jade was a big let down, very bland,no matter where you ate on board. The crew could not have handled the disembarkation at Belize any worse, after waiting in line for 2 hours to get tickets for an early tender to go to shore,we were held on board until the people that had booked excursions with NCL could go ashore first,so much for there first come first serve policy. We almost missed our excursion that had been booked on line,we were 2 hours late. We will not cruise withNCL again.

Also just got back from Jade & had an AMAZING time! Food was GREAT! We ate at 3 specialty restaurants that were delicious! The complimentary ones were very good too. Tenders were a pain but it's the ports not the ship. Can't wait to cruise NCL again!!

I agree that it would have been super frustrating to be on that cruise and have so many issues tendering. But the captain is responsible for the safety of the passengers *and* for local and international regulations. Can you imagine if there was a fatality or even just a serious incident aboard an unlicensed tender? NCL, and maybe even the captain himself, would be open to huge liability if it was something the captain knew about and just accepted.

if you cruised the week of the Jan 2nd, the Belize tendering process was crazy because the captain found out that the first tenders that were coming were not licensed. So he nipped that in the bud for everyone's safety. I appreciate the captain looking out for us.

@ ok cruise mom what were the problems that you had on NLC? It will be my first time on them as well.Just curious.

But NCL doesn't have a "first come, first served" policy for tenders. NCL excursions and suite guests get priority. Pretty sure most other lines do the same. I know you can buy priority embarkation and tendering on Carnival (Faster to the Fun). You may or may not agree with their policy, but it is the policy you agreed to when you booked the cruise.

Just one example of why it's wise to book your excursions through the cruise ship. we are very excited for our upcoming NCL Jade cruise.
