Unhappy cruiser

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The Norwegian Jade was a nice ship, but was very disappointed in their new Free Style Dining, much prefer the assigned seating. Other open seating dining menu was same day after day. Not very tasty either.
Must say the medical staff were great when best friend became ill with the "cruise line flu", and because we stayed in stateroom for 24 hours got $100 ship board credit.
Our stateroom attendant was very good. Appreciated him.
Room service after breakfast meals were just plain bad, food was cold. Breakfast of cold cereal and breads was good.
They should put all smokers in same area. We had smokers on both sides of our balcony room and much of the time could not sit out on balciny for the smoke coming from both sides.
Entertainment was okay but not the Las Vegas style used to on other cruises.

Pros: Medfical care

Cons: Free style dining

Recommends Norwegian Jade? No.

Food and Dining
Quality of food was not what used to on other cruises. When "flu" broke out food in buffet was served by staff. they were were very nice. In other free style dining rooms staff were not attentive. Some times did not get water refills.
Entertainment
Disappointing, the staff entertainers were good for being the staff.
Ship Quality
Wish there were more drawer space.
Cabin / Stateroom
Do cruise lines no longer put out bathroom amenities?
Service and Staff
Stateroom attendant Ben was great, doctor and nurse were great.
Piraeus (Athens), Greece
Just not enough time to see everything, but must see the Acropolis. Archelogical Museum was a little disappointing, but glad I saw it. Ate lunch at 3 p.m. at the Ladeao Marriott, was crowded food was diaappointing.
Izmir, Turkey
Clean beautiful country, not what I expected. Went to Chapel of Virgin Mary and Ephesus. Magnificant, don't miss eaither. Wish could have seen more of this great country. Ate at tour resturant, nice buffet.
Don't Miss: Marble Highway in Ephesus
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
Tour guide had a fixation of maps spent "hours" looking at a map of Italy instead of viewing the Vatican and other sites. The city of Rome is a dirty placem trash and dirt piled up on streets.
Don't Miss: St. Peter's church
Alexandria (Cairo), Egypt
Did not get out of state room because of cruise line flu. Believe they dump sewage into port, nasty and filthy.
Valletta, Malta
Very impressed with this little country. Speak English, signs in English and many sites to see. Did not eat on this tour.
Don't Miss: Old temple that dates back 3000BC
