Review summary

Cancelling St. Thomas was a BIG negative and will make me probably NOT go on a cruise ever again. the Ship and staff are excellent. Food is mostly good. entertainment is top notch. the Pool is so small it might as well be called a hot tub due to is size and the fact that the water was HOTTER than the 90+ degree AIR. The pool is too deep (no place to stand in the pool) and so crowded that i maybe spent 20 minutes in the pool in 7 days at sea.

As soon as we boarded the NCL Cruise Ship, we were given a sheet of paper telling us the St. Thomas portion of our trip was cancelled and replaced with a day at sea. Excursions for St.T were refunded, but St.T was the only reason we BOOKED this cruise. This cancellation is enough to make me never want to book a cruise again! Re: NCL's Great Stirrup Cay. We arrived at Stirrup Cay and NO beach chairs appeared to be available. Hundreds of empty seats but with towels on them “reserving” them. My incredible wife could see my frustration, so she bought the $600 cabana for the few hours we were there. The NCL coordinator gladly sold it to us, but of course didn’t tell us if we just walked a little farther down there were PLENTY of empty seats. Made me even more furious!

Ship tip

Be aware that any part of your trip can be changed or cancelled and i guess they dont have to tell you until you are already in Florida and boarding the ship!

this port was cancelled but we were to notified until AFTER we were in Florida and boarding the ship! I put 1 start instead of checking off that we didn't visit so I could rate this 1 star!

All vacations are a hit and miss. Sucks that the port was cancelled. I imagine they dont tell you agead of time so that you dont cancel. But its the port of St Thomas that cancels , not NCL - to my understanding on what Ive read. Its all covid related. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Port changes and or removal are not uncommon. The others mentioned a number of reasons and I'm sure there are other reasons as well. My 10 day gem cruise had 5 ports. Changed the DR to PR and dropped St Thomas making it only 4 ports. While an inconvenience because of looking forward to someplace I haven't been to for me is not a vacation ruined. Sorry it was a reason to end cruising for you. Thanks for you review

Ports can be canceled at anytime for any number of reasons... even before the covid hysteria. This is CRUISING... which is a very dynamic form of vacationing and travel. Sea states, wind, local threats, local weather, ship propusion issues, ... You name it can change the cruise. As I always say for cruising... You need to go with the flow. Lol

Thanks for the review. Ports and itineraries can be and are changed for a variety of reasons. If a particular port is extreme importance to you, don’t depend on a cruise ship to get you there. Book a land Vacation directly there, Although with all of the flight cancellations recently, that may be no guarantee either.

Sorry cancellations happen, and if you can’t except that, cruising may not be for you

Hmmm…me thinks they have their knickers in a twist over something that is common in the current cruise environment. Oh well, first time cruiser does not understand cruising in today’s environment?

Unfortunately, canceled or changed ports are a part of cruising, and always have been.

Read your contract next time, there are itinerary changes all the time. Also the private island has tons of chairs! Cruising may not be for you. St. Thomas has been canceling ships through covid, especially all summer. Not much can be done if the island won't let the ships in.
