Review summary

It was a cruise. Most cruises are simply what you care to make of them. We were looking for peace, quiet, and relaxation, and did not care to interact with many of the fellow passengers in the social activities that the cruise director had planned for us. It's not that we don't like people, it's just that we didn't know anyone and all we really wanted was what we found: quiet deck side chairs to read on and space in the exercise room. If you enjoy the social aspect of cruises, then you will love this Cruise.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Not bad, but a little chaotic

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate in the buffet, mostly. The menu items are all the same in the main dining rooms, and REALLY expensive in the specialty restaurants. The food was good, but not outstanding.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There were a lot of children on this cruise, and they appeared to be very happy with the offerings. We used the exercise room and sat on very quiet decks to read and soak up the silence.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
What we saw was excellent. I was disappointed in one show because I thought they'd have a live band to back the singer, but it was just the singer and backup tracks.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Outstanding and helpful

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Clean, always

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Great room, nice size, could really spread out, Jack kept it shipshape and attended our every need. The bed wasn't bad, but we're spoiled by the quality of our personal mattress

Ship tip

Book your excursions through Shore Excursions, and not through Norwegian

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

I live here, so no

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

3 out of 5
Too many people, not tons to do except drink and burn.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

2 out of 5
Obviously a "port" built by Norwegian. The water park was/is just sad

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
Nice place

Disembarkation

Everything was good except our ride had real difficulty finding the pick-up point. It's not well-marked at all

Thanks for sharing. Actually Amber Cove was NOT developed by Norwegian Cruise Line.
