Review summary

The only thing I would do differently would be to not take a cruise, on such a kid oriented ship, in the middle of summer when they are all out of school. Not the kids fault. Just my preference.

Embarkation

Norwegian did this well. From the time we were dropped off to stepping on the ship was 40 minutes tops.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Service was excellent but had a few misses on our dining room entrees. Pasta a la vodka with shrimp had only two very small shrimp but our other choices were fine.

Sugarcane Mojito Bar

5 out of 5

The bartenders there now their craft.

Shanghai's Noodle Bar

4 out of 5

The food was good but not worth the 1.5 hour wait in my opinion.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
No issues at all. The spa balcony access was worth it due to the high number of people at the pool.

Ship tip

Be aware this is a very family friendly ship. A plus for some, not for others.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
I found Old San Juan to be very charming. We took the culinary, cocktails and history tour by Spoon Food Tours. Wonderful! Worth the price. Our guide, Pedro, was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Would go back to this port in a heartbeat.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

4 out of 5
We spent a couple of hours snorkeling and tried our skill at paddle boards. Great day!

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
Took the ATV adventure with beach and had a really good time.

Disembarkation

Norwegian did this well. Our bag was taken in error but returned to the pick up area. Not Norwegian’s fault.

Thanks for the review. It seems very honest. Glad you still made the most of it even if there were too many kids for your preference.

All Caribbean cruises are family oriented, especially in summer and holidays. This ship, on another itinerary, can have majority of adults. Not sure if it's still true but before COVID-19 children up to 17 years cruised for free on NCL in their parents staterooms. MSC also had a similar provision.

Always cruise when school is in session if you prefer less kids onboard.
