We won’t be taking that cruise to Cozumel and Costa maya. We will drive to south Florida to try another ship. We will also stay in The Haven next time instead of having a ride steward and terrible bed!
Embarkation

It was fairly quickly
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main dining rooms were “ok” nothing to write home about. The speciality restaurants we much better but if you don’t schedule months ahead, very little reservations were left. Noodles were booked so did not get a chance to try even though it was complimentary.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Pool is as so crowded “as usual” could not get near it. We purchased the vibe beach club for $189 a piece only to find there was NO pool and only plus to it was the chairs had cushions and it was quiet. Your chances of getting waited on was better as well. Not worth the $ though.
Entertainment
Never went to any shows
Children's Programs
No kids were with us. We were looking for a more adult cruise
Service and Staff

Our Stewart Leonard was only seen when he dropped 1 bag off. Charged us for a mini bar item we never touched! Then while waiting to disembark he knocked on our door asking when we plan to leave. We told him when they called our tag color. He told us they had...which they had not, but we left because we felt as if he had no patience telling us he needed to get our room clean. Other ships leave the cute little towel animals...we we lucky to just have a towel a piece (2) to use after showering. Other servers were good, but slow if you were waiting for food and drink.
Ship Quality

Layout was easy to maneuver around...so no complaints.
Cabin / Stateroom

The beds were HORRIBLE! Felt like we were sleeping on a slab of concrete with a thin mattress (jail cell style) My back bothered me the entire time. Not only me but our friends had same issue. Our friend wasn’t even able to get out one day because her back was hurting too bad.
Ship tip
Don’t purchase vibe pkg. book specialty restaurants way ahead of time! Don’t expect 1st class service.
Been there done that...nothing but t-shirts and cheap trinkets. We actually rented a Jeep ($165.00) to drive around island. Don’t stop at Carlos and Charlie’s. I think they sold it and now you have a constant barrage of people stopping at your table to sell you something. Ida who offers taste testing of tequila bothers you constantly until I did it. Then tried to sell me a watered down bottle of tequila with cinnamon in it for $185.00. So just pass by that place!
Probably would be better if we had a full day and not be back on the boat at 1:30. Just gives you enough time to stop at all the tourist junk stores for t-shirts and jewelry, etc.
Our family just finished our cruise on the Getaway from 01/12-01/17. We stayed in Haven courtyard penthouses. The experience is like no other. I do prefer being in a Haven with the sliding roof, such as the Breakaway, but it's still the Haven. Haven or nothing for us. You won't regret
We never had a problem getting by the pool unless we showed up late. The towel animals they stopped stopped doing them unless you requested them part of their eco friendly program. Saving water etc... Haven is worth the money. I found if you went in the morning to make reservations or right we went got on the ship because we went on 3 Norwegians with kids and were never sure what day we would do what, we could typically get in where we wanted maybe not the time we wanted. I will agree with the noodle bar.
This is why I booked the Haven for the family in April. After reading countless reviews of the “cattle call” atmosphere. Also, pro tip, if you find that your bed is too hard ask for an egg crate topper. I’ve done it on many ships. If fact I’ve even requested it before I board the ship. (This was on Regent cruise line) but they ALL have them available
Sorry you didn’t enjoy it. Cozumel and Costa Maya are 2 of the most popular ports in the Caribbean with lots of great options at both ports with a little research done ahead of time
