Review summary

Overall the cruise was OK. I had just sailed with Carnival a couple of months before and found the staff at Carnival much more attentive and friendly. Cruise director at Carnival was super fun (Emma), while I didnt see much of the NCL CD (Vincent). Ship at NCL was modern and well decorated but difficult to navigate. The shear number of passengers (4,800) on NCL also made getting around a bit tough. Getting reservations to shows and meals was hit or miss. You need to plan and schedule way ahead of time. Food on NCL was better than Carnival and entertainment was very professional. I wish there was an adults only pool on NCL like on Carnival. There were tons of kids on this cruise and it was difficult to relax. Purchased the upgrade to The Vibe ($200/person/week). Was well worth getting away but there was no pool. There was a private bar and two hot tubs (only one worked at a time).

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was good. Difficulties reserving specialty restaurants due to number of people on ship. Buffets were OK.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Ship was super crowded. Hard to get onto events and there was no adult only pool. Adult area had wading pool and uncovered hot tubs.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Best entertainment on any ship I have ever been on. Top grade shows and performances.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Staff was not super friendly or helpful. General dining services was sub par. Meals at table came out at different times, had to wait for simple requests and had different staff every night.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was SUPER clean. Not one issue with cleanliness. Design was awkward. Moving around ship and finding venues was challenging and the elevators was akin to the Hunger Games. Lots of time waiting on elevators and had to get aggressive to get on one.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Standard balcony cabin. Overlooked the starboard side deck. Was very well taken care of.

Ship tip

The ship is big and there are a lot of people sailing. Lots of kids and if you want some quite spend a little extra money on The Vibe. Less people with private bar and two hot tubs.

Ports of call

Set up our own SCUBA excursion. Love Roatan.

Harvest Caye, Belize

3 out of 5
Private Island with top notch amenities. Ocean swimming was OK. Beach was OK. I prefer to participate in the local areas which we were separated from. Personal preference.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Downtown is a bit far so you'd have to take a taxi ($4/person). Town was cute and on the beach. Loved hanging out there.

We were on the same cruise, our first time on NCL. We booked all the shows and speciality restaurants on the first day, this worked very well for us. Couldn't fault the food or entertainment and we loved the adults only area and the Mojito bar. Our first but definitely not the last on NCL

Spice 2o and adult pool on deck 15 with a pool and four hot tubs conveniently located adjacent to Waves Pool Bar, the Kid’s Aqua Park and the Garden Café. If they let kids in the area that’s on the staff. I have little ones I keep them in the designated areas some do not care where there children roam however I do. I always say do your homework on the ship. The fish on the carpet always swim forward. That should help with your direction.

Spice H2o is adults only pool area at no extra cost, at the very back of the ship

Just enjoying a cruise is more of what I want, comparing is not all that important to me ,just having fun with the differences is what matters!
