Review summary

I feel as though I've found my people! This was my first cruise but it will not be my last! I had been thinking that maybe travel was a thing of the past for me as I cannot get around as well as I once could, but now realize this is the way to go. The level of comfort was amazing and the attention to my personal needs was astounding. I loved the balcony and feel that it was an important luxury. I'm back home and to work but feel refreshed and happy. I had a true vacation!

I think this has more to do with New Orleans than Norwegian. New Orleans has a tendency to be disorganized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

We were treated like Queens. We usually ate at either Taste or Savor. My sister and I loved the white table service. The staff was very professional and personable. They were aware of my dairy allergy and took great care to make sure I stayed clear of foods containing any dairy. With there being nearly 4000 people on board it was amazing they could take such great care of me.

Onboard Activities

I loved the spa. Nicole in the spa gave me a couple fantastic massages and I had the best pedicure from Sabrina I've ever had!

Entertainment

My sister really loved the Eagles tribute band.

Service and Staff

In Savor and Taste: Deepa, and Rochelle were very good at taking care of us. Deepa even set us up one night with another couple for dinner and they were lovely and my sister and I really enjoyed the conversation. Incidentlly, I'd met the man on the beach (actually bobbing in the ocean) and had had a lovely chat with him so it was such a treat to meet his wife. Christopher and Lorie Jane were our favorite servers. They were charming and warm and very professional. Our room attendant Ellesar was also very attentive. He would magically tidy up our room and always left us ice (we'd only asked for it on the first night) and he was very trustworthy.

I just loved the ship and our time on board. I felt so lucky to be there.

I really struggled choosing a room style. Finally (with the help of a friend who had cruised before) I chose a mini suite with balcony. It was worth every penny. It was simply wonderful. Spacious enough room to stow away all our clothing and luggage so it was easy to keep clean. My sister looked for 2 days around the ship for that special quiet corner to read a book until she realized...hey, we have that marvelous balcony with that beautiful unobstructed view! The room was comfortable, there was a couch to sit on and a mini fridge for our water. The bathroom was bigger than my own at home, and that shower was amazing! We loved this room.

Ship tip

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

I love New Orleans. I chose this cruise specifically as it was shipping out of New Orleans and wanted to spend time there at both ends of the cruise.

Falmouth, Jamaica

I enjoyed the excursion to Ocho Rios. I love looking at the homes and towns and imagine the lives of those who live there. I did pick up some banana rum for the holidays!

George Town, Grand Cayman

I went on the boat that allows you to see 5 feet below the water. I loved it. After I wandered around and ducked into a little cafe to get out of the rain. I had amazing local food and met some interesting people and picked up a few trinkets for the family.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

This tour was interesting to see how people live in this community.

Harvest Caye, Belize

Okay, this was the best stop on the whole cruise! I loved the boat ride through the mangroves, the guide was super informative and funny. He told us about stuff I wanted to hear about like the Mayan culture, plants, birds, etc. His name was Rafael Bul. He really was terrific. Although we didn't get to see any manatees we did see a playful dolphin.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

This really was just a shopping stop but I found a really cool mask to go with my collection. I've been to Mexico many times so it was a pleasure to hear Spanish being spoken.
