Several irritating things as mentioned previously but amazed that a company and a ship of so called professionals can RUN OUT OF MILK ! We started to run out of milk after we failed to dock at the Azores on the previous trans-Atlantic cruise but still had no milk after docking at Miami and New Orleans to replenish all stocks for the new cruise and still had no milk all through this cruise.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
We were back to back and there was no provision for us to get back on board ship without going to the back of the line of those checking in !!!!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Several meals had to be sent back because the main item was uncooked and Tropicana restaurant tables were too close together the waiters were having to squeeze by whilst the Savour restaurant service was so slow it took two and a half hours on two occasions to finish our meal but Taste restaurant was very good.
Syd Norman's Pour House
5 out of 5
Great venue and entertainment but not large enough to accommodate the audience
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Only used pools, hot tubs and fitness centers which were good
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Burn the Floor and Million Dollar Quartet were excellent but the highlight if the cruise was the Syd Norman Band who were fantastic
Children's Programs
No children with us
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Service average except there seemed to be a lot of new staff who did not know what they were doing and had difficulty understanding English
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Liked design of ship except was disappointed to find that smoking still allowed in Casino and even on the rest of the ship where smoking is not allowed people were smoking but staff were not enforcing the rules
This is advertised as NCL Private Island. It is not. We have visited Stirrup Caye (another NCL private island) where food and drink are supplied like on board ship included in the price of your cruise. Harvest Caye charges for EVERYTHING but this is not mentioned on the ship. Beautiful Island spoiled by misinformation.
They do have there areas to smoke which is fine smokers are entitled like the rest of us to vacation. However walking on the waterfront with our children for walks and walking through heavy smoke stinks and I get they don’t want to stay in the humidor..... we had a guy in the room above us who kept smoking in his room and would ash on our balcony. We had a extended balcony he had a regular. Then one day he dropped his lit cigarette on our chair! Security went up but because they said they weren’t there wasn’t anything they could do. Just be think of others and what if something caught on fire!
I did a Back to Back November 8 thru 17.. There's was a shortage of Item's on the 1st leg of the cruise. The 2nd leg was much better they had replenish everything It was real smooth with no issues.
A pastor friend ordered a steak medium , came out uncooked. It was still cold to the touch.
... I'd already seen a woman in O'Sheehans get a burger that way.
Guess it's just a difference of culture, but I can't eat raw meat.
The running out of milk, butter, and no Margaritaville, just seemed to go right along with the Swiss Captains stories about pirates.
Many lessons learned.
Regarding Harvest Caye: you didn’t know that food and drink are not included when you booked the cruise? There are several videos from back in 2017 & 2018 (as well as 2019) on YouTube that talk about this. Before we committed to purchasing a cruise on NCL Getaway, I looked up YouTube videos on all the ports this cruise included. That way it is not a disappointing surprise to us. For your next cruise I highly recommend you watch YouTube videos on the ports of the cruise you’re interested in so you’re better informed enough to decide on whether you want to take any given cruise or not.
