Started bad with the huge delays getting on the ship, only then to be greeted by our luggage that gotten a forklift arm through one of them, and another that had 2 of wheels torn off of it. Not a sorry we oops note, not a explanation, not a screw you, just torn up luggage, that I now get to figure how to get them back off at the end of the cruise. They also tore the zipper of another one ,but were able to repair it. They had some sort of very cheap made luggage that they wanted to swap, but we insurance so we have to keep our broken luggage until we file our claim at home.
We go to dinner that 1st night because that's what our reservations are set for. Uhhh, really didn't matter, there was 1 line ,every night, at every one of the main dining rooms, it was a complete, and total waste of my time to make those reservations.
The entertainment was all of 2 shows. 2. One that was good, another that was great. The comidians were funny but that little room was very, very crowded and hard to see.
Embarkation

Waited at port for over 2 1/2 hours to go through customs, which took over another 1 1/2 hour. First time that I've ever taken off belt to go through machine.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food overall was fine, better than Carnival, not as good as Royal Caribbean. We were a party of six, which evidently meant, be prepared to wait a while between dishes. Average time in dining room was 1 hour and 50 minutes per meal. The workers were working hard, just seemed understaffed. Never had a seafood night. The ship ran out of butter. The bread they give out is pretty bland without any butter. Lol.
The buffet was fine, just seemed very crowded. Never understood, the whole idea of having to ask for milk, then having to wait until someone would go get it. I don't think anyone should have to ask for milk with breakfast. Quality was okay, not bad, not great.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Seemed like the ship had plenty of things to offer to keep someone occupied, but the pools were crowded, the hot tubs were full except on the nights of shows in theater. The golf course was fun and not crowded the 2 times we played. Fitness center was crowded at mornings and some equipment wouldn't be available.
Getaway Casino

People were great! Enjoyed the trying to keep out the smokers from making it a smoking lounge. Wish they wouldn't have turned the machines back on the final 2 days.

I was thinking it would be alot better than Carnival's entertainment. It was about the same. I didn't understand several songs as they were sang in Spanish, but I guess that's me not being very cultured. Those kids seemed very good at dancing and the show was fine, but if there was a theme that I was supposed to be following I missed it. This show was fine, not great, but better than sitting in your room.
Howl at the Moon

Too small for this many people, comidians were funny though.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service on the Getaway was fine. The waiters worked hard, but seemed like they just had too much to do. Our room steward was great! Did a fine job, as did all personnel in the casino.
Ship Quality

Very clean ship. Really great job of cleaning.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We were in cabin 13784, a Jr Suite with a balcony. The room was okay smaller than other balcony cabins we've been in, but fine. The bathroom was large with a shower big enough for two, and 6 jets that could be moved. Also had double sinks where 2 could get ready at once which was nice. The balcony itself is tiny.
Not sure about the sliding doors on a cruise ship, as ours had to have shoe in between them (closet doors), and a rag(shower doors) to where they wouldn't make noises keeping us awake all night. I was cramped trying to get into the closet, but I am bigger (6'2- 250#)lol
Ship tip
Do not go on a cruise that requires you to tender. Horrid. Our port time was 7-3. We were able to get off ship at 11:05. Took taxi to beach, got there at 11:50,at 1:15 I wanted to go back to Georgetown, we got there at 1:40, to see the line to get back on the ship was out in the street. Stood in line for another hour and a half to find out that others had been there over 2 and a 1/2 hours.
Did the same waiting the following day at roatan. Pretty much wasted an excursion due to the waiting times and lines.
Once again, the tendering was so bad the comedians we making fun of NCL and the Captain apologized.
Truth is.. We don't get these days back, and they got paid to mess up. On this one, a lady sitting at the back of tender boat (I was seated directly in front of her, facing her), had gotten so hot, she went into having an anxiety attack and was livid that she was getting out of that boat. Well, she tried climbing up and over the seats and people in front of her, she fell , I caught her, her daughter was trying her best to calm her,but she was wanting off that boat.
Point is, she shouldn't have been put in the position of getting that hot by having to wait inside a hot lifeboat because Norwegian didn't have locals tendering. That was pitiful, the young man driving the boat had little to no experience doing this, and it showed. He got an ovation to get to the dock after 3 failed attempts.
Absolutely the best surprise of the cruise. I was very impressed with the pool area, the beach area, and how nice the vendors were sat up.
Great job, and thanks for day of good times. The pier was long, but after the prior 2 days experience, it was a welcome change.
Had been there a couple times before so we kind of knew what to expect. We took a tour of Falmouth from the back of a bicycle. Vendors outside the port can be rude, and pushy.
Water was pretty, but I didn't go to a beach as I was pretty much already cooked. Lots of vendors sat up right there at the port. Pretty much the same stuff as Cozumel.
We were on the Getaway transatlantic cruise just before your cruise. We had a similar tendering issues at GSC. Our cruise also ran out of butter plus orange juice and iced tea. We love Norwegian and mostly cruise with NCL. This was our first time on a large NCL ship and have decided that in the future we will stick to the smaller ships.
Was on the same cruise as you and I had the same experience which I'll be writing later today. WORST cruise I have ever taken. And before this cruise ... Norwegian Getaway was my favorite cruise of all time (previously sailed on her in March of 2015). Very disappointing and Norwegian didn't care!
No, it's my opinion. I paid alot of money for that opinion. Were you on this cruise? This question ask for my review, I didn't ask for you to be a smart*as. Maybe you should stop hitting enter.
