Review summary

I love the Getaway. It was my second time, and 4 friends joined us for the second time. There were 18 of us with various interests and wants for their vacation. Everyone was pleased and would do NCL again.

Embarkation

We arrived early in hopes to get aboard sooner. We were in a holding area for about 30 minutes, not too bad. We all had a seat but it was warm. We worked through it - we were on vacation!

Cagney’s was ok. Serve great, steak tough. The first time I was on the Getaway in 2015, I thought the steakhouse was better. Japanese steakhouse was good. I’d do it again. Sushi bar ROCKED!!!! As well as the Raw Bar and the Seafood place. The Italian was underwhelming.

Adult pool needed more security as kids under 16 did get in the pool. Spa AMAZING!!!!!!!

Ship tip

Book your speciality dinners before you board - as soon as you can. Shows as well. If are already getting a balcony, consider a mini suite balcony. Extra room in the bathroom is worth the spend. Watch NCL’s deals. We got our mini suite balcony for $2800 for the two of us and that included the drink package and 4 nights of speciality dining. No limit to your daily cocktails like Carnival. We are not big drinkers in our everyday life’s but we enjoy cocktail hour before diner and after plus poolside beverages. It included bottled water and soda which is a good deal.

We just went to a private beach via a boat ride. Beach was ok but the service was super.

Harvest Cay was just ok. The beach was a disappointment as well as the large pool. It’s not the pool, just so many wild kids and parents simply not watching them. That tends to be a usual theme on most cruises.

Did a Mayan spa treatment designed to cleanse your soul, mind and spirit. Loved it but I a spa kinda gal so it was totally up my ally. Did it alone, which was therapeutic in itself.

I’ve been there so much, so a group of us went to Carlos and Charlie’s Beach Club. $8 round trip pp to the beach by taxi. Chairs at no cost with great seat side service for lunch and beverages.

NCL has a Premium Package that now includes bottled water. It requires additional fees from the Free at Sea promotion and may be selected as an upgrade in the app.

I have enjoyed my many cruises with NCL. Glad you enjoyed yours but I think you are mistaken about your statement that the drink package included bottled water. You have to buy it if you want it bottled and that price is not included with the drink package. You may get it free if your gambling.
