Review summary

A great way to visit the Baltic countries and St Petersburg, the Getaway has just been refurbished and is immaculate. The service, food and enetertainment are excellent.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Completely painless, no queues and almost straight onto the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent - Ocean Blue and Le Bistro were faultless, superb food and service.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We only did the mini-golf but that was good fun.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The band in the Syd Norman Pour House were excellent, but go early for a seat it becomes very very crowded. The Cirque Show, The Million Dollar Quartet and Wine Lovers Musical should not be missed. But all the entertainment was superlative.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It had just been refurbished and was in "as new" condition.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Possibly the smallest inside cabin we have ever been in, we tried to pay for an ungrade but none were available.

Ship tip

Avoid the single cabins.

Ports of call

Copenhagen, Denmark

5 out of 5
We had a couple of days here before joining the cruise.

Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany

5 out of 5
We didn't bother with the 5 hour plus return trip to Berlin, but Rostock and Warnemunde were we worth a visit, without the need for an excursion.

Tallinn, Estonia

5 out of 5
Very easy to just walk off the ship and visit the old town without an excursion.

St. Petersburg, Russian Federation

5 out of 5
Superb, the Best of St Petersburg excursion over 2 days is worth every penny - we were the first groups into the Hermitage and St Catherines Palace and the guide was extremely knowledgable and spoke excellent English.

Helsinki, Finland

5 out of 5
Unfortunately everything was shut for the Midsummer Holiday, we did the Hop-on-hop-off bus tour and then visited the market at the seafront.

Stockholm, Sweden

5 out of 5
We would have loved to have had longer here, again easily accessible without needing an excursion, but too much to see and do in one day. We will be back.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Painless

Apologies, this should have said inside cabins - the one we had was smaller than on other ships.

Hi Stuartscott, First time cruiser and wanted to know what did you mean by avoid single cabins?

Following...I have read that you need to go to guest services and tell them which independent tour company you are with so that they can assign you witha group number. Then they call your number to get off??

We were on the Norwegian excursion with a very early meeting times (0630 and 0715), and we were first through immigration, first into the Hermitage on day 1 and first into St Catherines Palace on day 2. But I didn't hear any complaints from those who took independent tours.

Hi Stuartscott. Glad you had a great cruise holiday! Were you on an independent excursion in St Petersburg and if so could you tell us how the debarkation & immigration checks process was? We’ve heard that Norwegian are delaying the independent guests and letting the ones that have booked an excursion with NCL get off the ship first. Many thanks
