This was an average experience; the worst of the 5 Norwegian cruises I've been on. The service was uninspiring and mediocre at best, with a few exceptions. The entertainment on the ship was average. And I felt nickle and dime at various times. The pool area is very small and poorly laid out. If you want a lounge chair in the sun, get up very early at the days at sea. My advice - try another NCL ship.
Embarkation

Very smooth but we arrived in the first boarding group. There was no excitement or energy when we arrived on the ship, however. We were not welcomed; nobody was directing traffic. It was a very stale welcome which is why this was rated a 4 instead of a 5.

Main dinning rooms had very slow service. Very slow. We ate at three specialty restaurants. The seafood place had a great food and great service. Moderno had good food and horrible service. The Tepanaki (japanese steakhouse) had above average food (the filet was not a filet and they used way too much butter) and excellent service. The buffet was very good and as long as you didn't go at peak times, the line was not bad. The sports pub had decent food, very small portions and horrible service. Late night buffet was good. Bartenders were good but very few had any personality.

Probably the worst entertainment of any cruise ship I've ever been on. It was really lacking. Three comedians - two were pretty good and one was terrible. The live music was simply not very good. NO magician. Only two free shows. This was a big disappointment.
Service and Staff

The room steward was good. Service in main dining halls was terrible. There was a lack of energy with the staff. The staff seemed tired, burnt out, sluggish, etc. It was probably the worst service experience I've ever had on a ship.

First time I've had a balcony and it was well worth it. The extra space and ability to sit outside and have a drink made the extra cost worth it.
Ship tip
I would probably try another NCL ship. I've been on four other NCL cruises and this was the worst one. It wasn't bad but the service wasn't good and the entertainment was lacking.
Private island so not really Belize. Sand on the beach was not soft. Even though the island is owned by NCL, you have to buy your own food and drink which is different from their private island in the Bahama's.
I agree with this review- will not do the Getaway again. Subpar entertainment, no chairs at the pool and subpar food. Very disappointing experience to say the least.
Not our experience this summer. Entertainment included Howl at Moon, Million Dollar Quartet and a concert in H2O with more than several entertainers on the ship. I haven't even included various piano players, band in Tropicana or Cirque. We would definitely cruise GA again.
Yes it is one of their best Ships. Best part is how everything is included even drinks if you at lease have a Balcony. Ship is kaid out so wonderfully, anyone can get around easily. The best Class of all their Ships. The over abundance of chairs is what blew my mind... 3 for each passenger! The service was the best! We enjoy 2nd cruise on Getaway in 51 days!!!
