Review summary
I am not even sure where to begin and I am sure someone out in the inter web will have something to say about my review and that's fine it is expected. But, what is not expected is the lack of enjoyment and customer service onboard this ship. I have been on cruises before but this seemed more like the Titanic before it sank when planning the cruise and what the ship actually looked like once we boarded it. The ticket counter experience wasn't that great. They had a lot of agents yet when the agent said it was our turn when we walked up he waved us away and took two other young women so we just stood in limbo as we waited for the agents to finally accept us. Once we boarded the ship it was like time travel back to the '70's The emergency muster evacuation meeting was comical to say the least. They grouped us and kept pushing us back for some reason while others cruise goers were laying on the floor. After that was done we went to our room where our luggage still hadn't arrived. The coffee maker had some type of stain so I called the steward who called his supervisor to come and exchange it. When he arrived he decided to go back and forth with me as if the coffeemaker was coming from his personal collection of coffee makers. He finally decided to exchange it after I told him our friends next door received one. The bathroom counter had some type of dent in it that they barely patched up. The stench of the room was so bad we had to have housekeeping come and redo the room to get rid of the odor. We paid for the premium internet package but for some reason couldn't connect and when we did it was so slow it was worse than dial up and it kept disconnecting. To be fair the customer service woman was nice and tried her best to remedy it. The food was horrible and the specialty dining was good but what was worse than the food was the service from the wait staff. You'd think they cooked the meal themselves. Not sure why medium-rare was so difficult for them. When we asked for medium-rare they would bring out medium. When we asked again they would bring back well done. It shouldn't take 3 requests to have the meal done the way we would like it when they ask us how would we like it? The drink package wasn't really worth it. When I would ask for a Pepsi I would receive a diet pepsi for some reason. I work out 5 times a week about 2 hours a day so I couldn't understand how much more dieting I needed according to the bar. The ship shook like a disco non-stop. I have footage of it night after night. The Gulf of Mexico isn't that rough so I couldn't figure out whether or not the ship had stabilizers. The last thing was the unfortunate suicide attempt. The Captain announced it as a little bit unfortunate. The crew member jumps at 5 am. We do not receive notice until 12 pm and do not turn around and reach the location until around 3:30 pm to where we leave at 8:30 pm after the search was called off. We were delayed into port about 5 hours. I am not complaining about the jumper. i am complaining how we didn't receive any type of reimbursement yet those coming on board did. Disembarking was a nightmare to say the least. They locked the elevators and literally trapped people when they decided to fuel the ship which required all the doors to be shut while everyone was on Deck 7 trying to disembark. We didn't disembark into the dingy garage of a port until around 2 hours later. Spending an additional $3200 just to ease the pain of the horrible service seems a bit out of the ordinary but be prepared. Maybe one's standards may be normal or a bit higher than another's but if this ship is one's standard maybe it is time to raise it since comparable cruise lines offer far more at pretty much the same price. All the videos and reviews surely showed a deceptive view of the ship as a whole. Never again will we use Norwegian Cruise Line since they used us.Embarkation
