Review summary

This cruise was a birthday gift from my husband to cruise solo for some "me" time to relax. This was my first time on Norwegian I have cruised on carnival and celebrity

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth embarkation. Show up at your assigned time and there was not a wait. Cabin rooms were ready by 1pm they made an announcement

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
There were many food options that were included (free) 3 main dining rooms, all lovely but my favorite was Tropicana because of the music while dining atmosphere; a pub resturant open 24hrs serving breakfast 6-10am and bar food rest of day (wings, fish and chips, hamburgers etc). And of course the huge buffet area with lots to choose from. Margaritaville is a specialty resturant outdoors during the day but is free for breakfast each morning. I enjoyed that it was quite and not many knew about the free breakfast so no crowds like the large buffet. If you want specialty resturants do the package to make it more affordable they looked wonderful

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I had a spa pass for the week and enjoyed the thermal spa and saunas it was worth it. Get the package before the cruise if you don't have a spa room $199 for the week online before you cruise $249 onboard (includes body scrub gift bag) if you can't do or don't want a full week they have single day passes available for purchase

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Burn the floor Latin/ballroom dancers were excellent. Do the welcome aboard show the first night it's a sample of all the entertainment offered on the ship for the week and the dancers do a 5 min sample and you can decide if you want to see the whole show when they offer it a few days later

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was beautiful I really liked the design of the waterfront outdoor seating and dining that circled the ship. I did not care for the design of the buffet area. Although it was very large, the design is a huge square of straight lines that is traffic flow and food lines. Very chaotic. Whereas for example on carnival there are "islands" of buffet areas and separate walkway for traffic.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Regular balcony cabin, very nice and comfortable. Balcony was extremely small but I enjoyed it. Location was good and bad....good because it was close to pub eating and specialty dining. Quick elevator ride up to 15 for buffet....the bad is this room is directly above the show theater so if you enjoy going to bed early you will hear the music and bass from the different shows every night, 1st shows are 7:30pm late shows are 10pm so it goes well into midnight. If you are late person and are out late this won't bother you

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Stayed onboard and enjoyed the quiet ship I have visited this port several times in the past

Harvest Caye, Belize

5 out of 5
Please read Norwegians description of this port, it is NOT a private island in the traditional way. It is absolutely beautiful with an enormous pool plenty of chairs music swim up bar, tables and stools in the water (very cool) to enjoy your drink away from bar area if you wish. Beach area that stretches for days with tons of chairs and a separate kids splash area with splash bucket and water slide. What it does NOT have is free/included food like a traditional private island. There is a for fee resturant, and shopping. If you want to eat for free you have to go back to ship and come back. That didn't bother me the walk was short and they will drive you in golf carts if you want back to the ship. I enjoyed relaxing here but they do have excursions to see the city of Belize if you wish to tour

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
I went to the resort beach day $39 (I had a $50/day excursion credit so it was free) the hotel grounds were beautiful and the double level infinity pool was wonderful overlooking the beach and water. Beach area had chairs I never left the pool, two large pools on different levels plenty of room and very quiet. It was great for me. If you have kids or a couple that prefers more action there are other beach excursions that are better suited

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
This is a great port for just shopping. Located at the end of the pier is a huge open air shopping venue. Resturants and bars also and lots of taxi if you need one. Great port to shop if you don't want to take excursion. Get your liquor at this port

Very smooth pick your time, get some breakfast or stay in your room until announcement is called for your time and very quick. Customs did not take long and you exit to taxis and busses
