Just got off the Getaway. Beautiful ship sadly disappointed in the entertainment, Food, and size of mini suite ( Regular cabins were bigger) and balcony was tiny, 3 people could not fit comfortably. Could not even see any shows They were all booked the first day every show. Same Bland food all week, The specialty dining rooms were great. The Crew was friendly but seemed fake and the game shows were fun. The elevators stayed nasty with sticky messes, but I am sure they cleaned them often, people were just nasty makers. I loved the way they made you sanitize before the dining venues. Got one of our excursions backed up by 4 hours so had to rush to do it, then rush back to the ship and missed some of the fun, but what we did was good. Harvest Caye Belize their private Island was beautiful and very well kept, the Pool was Awesome, but one of their venders lied to us and cheated us, but all is good Karma will repay him. TV was awful, same shows over and over, same movies over and over, I know you did not go on a cruise to watch TV, but we are early risers and in Bed early like 10pm, and TV to wind down. They just need to have more variety for people who relax in their cabin also. I love the way they do their Photos and Love the way you can have them all in one place to view, Royal could and should take pointers from them. I think Norwegian needs to bump up the food choices for sure, and use some spices like salt everything was sorta bland after the first day. LOL And I am not a foody for sure, but I do like tasty food when I eat, however the small amount i do eat. The Newlywed game was awesome, the Deal or No deal was fun, and the Bingo was good for the most part.
Embarkation

Long but okay.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main Dining room was good for the most part, food was good. Specialty Restaurants was good except the last day the hostess gave my husband a hard time when he took my daughter instead of me( the reservation was for two never me and my husband only), embarrassed my daughter and made her feel bad. Buffet was awful recycled food everyday the same old stuff.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Always full in the Hot tubs, no chairs available, and the deck was always soaked so be careful walking.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
All shows were booked before the first day, so no shows were available.
Children's Programs
My Teenager who is 16 did not want to hang out with 13 yo's so she never went.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Steward was awesome and very personable. Waiters for the most part were good, not very easy to rate when you have a different one every time you go. It seemed like the staff was friendly but it seemed like they were not that genuine in their friendliness like they were just doing their job.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Ship is Beautiful and easy to Navigate. The Elevators stayed nasty though I guess during the Holiday many people spilled drinks and actually got sick in one elevator and was wiped down but not sanitized as you could still see and smell the mess up the walls.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Mini Suite not worth the extra money it is the same if not smaller then a regular cabin, the shower was a little bigger, but the Balcony was tiny 3 people could not hardly fit, and it was obstructed with a long awning in the way so you could not look down into the ocean. Do your research with the sizes.
Ship tip
Book any shows early. Eat at the specialty dining, or dining room. Buffet sucked.
Beautiful private Island, But expected better from the shops and expected to be treated better then lied to. unethical behavior when they lie to you about having a piece exclusive to their shop, but then found the same piece in Costa Mya for $150 cheaper. The Pool is awesome and the Island is Beautiful.
Always love this Port. We did the speed boats had a great time, but when my husband and daughter snorkeled they made you swim to far to get back into the boats and they were exhausted and almost had an emergency. So they need to bring the boats closer after the snorkeling.
Long and slow, maybe next time they will tell people that they have two custom areas and we would not of went through the non Us customs next time. so when leaving if you are a US citizen do not make the same mistake.
Ree2k12, you will love the Getaway! The menu in the MDRs seems to have changed since my last Getaway cruise, for the better. It was good before but I anticipate it to be better when I’m back on it this Sunday. And we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE O’Sheehan’s Irish Pub! 24 hour complimentary full menu choices! And a buffet that opens back up at 9:30-11:00pm for late night snacks! And the entertainment was fabulous! Loved Million Dollar Quartet!
Also from what I've read, I don't think the vendors in Harvest Caye work for NCL, so I'm not sure it's fair to refer to the vendor as 'one of their vendors'. It is good to try something different maybe NCL is not for you. I too am giving them a try this year..
We are on the Getaway in December. We did the mini-suite with a large balcony to ensure all four of us can fit.
Hope the food is good. I usually just add salt and pepper to my taste, if not satisfied.
I have to wonder if we cruised the same ship! The exceptional complimentary food choices and Freestyle Cruising concept is what convinced us to book back on this ship! Leaving this Sunday! And the entertainment was far superior than what we saw on our last RCCL cruise (CATS is awful!) Yes, their cabins are smaller than RCCL, and much smaller than Carnival, but we are only in our cabin to shower, dress, and sleep. I can hang out watching TV at home. Sorry this ship disappointed you, but a cruise and a ship is very subjective. A fabulous ship to one person may not be for another. Everyone has different tastes and expectations.
