Review summary

Wonderful ship experience, with history to be seen on the port excursions (whether with NCL or independent). Be prepared for some sunshine, but also grey days and rain.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth and efficient.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Very tasty! Variety of dishes to choose from the complimentary dining areas. No need to eat at extra-charge restaurants.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The variety of ship activities were very good, including arts and crafts. Unfortunately the cool windy damp weather limited pool and climbing activities.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
So much enjoyed the shows in the big theatre, with great music also found in the Headliners lounge!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the service on board the ship was so friendly and efficient! Was definitely a pampered experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very clean and well-maintained! The design was welcoming to moving about the 4000 guests efficiently.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
A few times every day our steward kept our stateroom tidy and clean, plus supplied with ice in our bucket! The size was just right for us, with plenty of storage space. Being on the forward end of the ship, we did hear motors running when the ship was docking at the ports though.

Ship tip

You'll be walking forward on the ship for entertainment, and back aft for food areas. On the carpet for the cabin hallways, the little fish point in the direction of the forward area.

Ports of call

Copenhagen, Denmark

We stayed a few days before the cruise, and a day after, to enjoy the city fully. Hop-on hop-off bus recommended.

Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany

5 out of 5
Enjoyed exploring the village, and then did an excursion into Rostock, which was very interesting. Our guide Dieter was a wealth of historical information! Plus we experienced a tram ride, walking tour, and a ferry boat ride.

Tallinn, Estonia

5 out of 5
Even though we had periods of rain, our walking tour of Old Tallinn was very interesting and enjoyable.

St. Petersburg, Russian Federation

5 out of 5
So much history to see! Our half-day tours were filled with sights and information. Could use more time to see inside some of the magnificent structures. There was a lengthy passport check the first day in port though, for us 1.5 hours in line!

Helsinki, Finland

5 out of 5
Our hop-on hop-off bus was just what we wanted to see the small city, plus the boat excursion around all the islands was fun and refreshing. Enjoyed seeing where my mother was from!

Nynashamn (Stockholm), Sweden Did not visit port

The captain cancelled docking due to wind conditions. Disappointing!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Even though we didn't pre-plan our transportation away from the ship, our wait in line for the taxi was not too long early in the morning.
