Cruising is a very good option to tour the Baltic capitals as most capitals are within a night's sailing distance. Norwegian Getaway offers good value for money for this tour. Amenities and entertainment are fewer than on larger ships but the onboard experience is more enjoyable. We would highly recommend this tour for families.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Check-in was fast and well organized. Staterooms were available at the planned time and luggage was delivered quickly. It was difficult to get the Stateroom steward to prepare the sofa bed for the kid.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food options at Garden Cafe buffet are not very broad both at breakfast (no fruit, few specialty breads, no yoghurt) and at lunch/dinner. There are no real options for afternoon break. Dining at complimentary restaurants savor/taste is OK but menu does not turn enough. Service is good but kitchen is not great. Specialty restaurants are good - we tried Teppanyaki, Cucina and Bistro and would recommend them. We recommend to take the ultimate drinks package as both cocktail and wine options are good.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Pools are nice, especially the kids pool which is a lot of fun. Fitness center was good but can get crowded during sea days or after everyone comes back on-board on shore days. We tried the spa but had mixed experiences.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We did both Cirque & steam and Million Dollar Quartet shows and would highly recommend. Music (Howl at the Moon, Jazz Club) was good but with limited optiions and no classical alternatives. They had occasionally DJ at the pool but not really impressive.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Our daughter (3) went many times to the Splash academy and had a great time. They have a professional staff and a good program with several age brackets. Overally highly recommended.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Overall friendly staff, waiting to go the extra mile an always trying to meet requests.

Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Cabin overall OK. The bathroom is extremely small and can get crammed with 3 or 4 people. The balcony is very small and not really worth it.
Ship tip
Make sure to book specialty restaurants and shows early on to get choices. Book your own excursions instead of the ship's, which will be much better value.
Wonderful little city, well worth a tour. We booked the Tallinn official sightseeing tour (bus + walking) which was not really great. The bus was crammed and the guide's english accent hard to understand. Better to take hop on/hop off.
We used the Red Bus hop-on hop-off service which was subscribed via the ship and was a disaster. They did not have enough buses and we ended up waiting 45' for a bus, were crammed with >150 people on bus and completed less than 50% of the whole tour.
