Review summary

We were fed like gladiators: macaroni and cheese, pasta, pasta pasta, bean soups and 500 varieties of chicken. We missed two ports (it's not my fault) continuously was announcing the captain. In one port -Brest- it took three hours to disembark and then another two to embark. We had only three hours in the city. One could not get a place in the only two good speciality restaurants. Anyway, my friends and we doubt that we'll ever set foot on a NCL vessel.

It is disappointing when our preconceived expectations are not met, but hopefully cruising with  a different cruiseline and to different area will be more of what you hoped it would be.

Thank you for your review.   I will agree that the new Mega ships are not what cruising used to be.   I prefer the smaller to mid size ships that are still ships and not floating amusement parks where you need to decide months before your cruise what night you want to go to the steakhouse or what night you will feel like Sushi.

I will add that even though the Celebrity Solstice class ships are large they still have good service,  good food and are not crowded as they have less guest per ton then the regular lines.

This is the second review you put on here about that cruise! I will repeat---the Getaway is a fabulous ship! Sorry you didn't have the same experience as I did. It does sound--from other people's comments about that sailing-- that you are not alone in your disappointment. All I can say is that to give NCL another try. It sounds like whatever could go wrong on your sailing, did go wrong. That's not the usual, but the rare circumstance. Not sure if the issue was that it was a transatlantic cruising vs a Caribbean cruise or what happened.

So sorry to read that you were disappointed with your cruise.

The specialty restaurants get booked way in advance before the cruise. It takes planning ahead to have a good trip on these mega ships.
