Review summary

This was our 5th NCL cruise and although we enjoyed this cruise we found that there were far too many people on board.  The 2 pools were simply too small for the amount of people on board.  Also I was quite surprised at all the additional charges at the complimentary restaurants, I had never seen that before.  They certainly nickel and dime us wherever they can.  Also our room (9858) had the tiniest balcony I have ever seen which barely allowed 2 people to sit comfortably, but the worst part was this 10 ft landing that extended out of our balcony did not allow us to see down was a real eye sore.  We did not expect an obstructed balcony because we made sure to avoid those but this awful.  When we complained to Guest Services they said they didn't have any balconies left to move us to so we were stuck with it.  The food was plentiful as usual but after a week the buffet was repetitive and we didn't look forward to it.  We went to some beautiful islands but our favorite was Harvest Cay, Belize.  It was absolutely stunning and we wished we could have ported there for a few days.  The pool was a mile long and so clean and beautiful.  The beach had thousands of chairs available and we didn't have any problems finding chairs.  It was by far our favorite island of all the cruises we've been on and will definitely return!  We have now reached Silver Latitudes membership on NCL, but they changed the program so it's harder now to move to Platinum status.  Overall we loved it, but I think we will book a smaller ship next year.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Food was good, but too many pay as you go restaurants. Soon they will have no complimentary restaurants left

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We had already seen the Million Dollar Quartet and was hoping for a different show, but still nice to watch.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
We barely ever saw our steward but overall the staff worked very hard and seemed happy.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
This was the tiniest balcony we have ever seen which barely allowed 2 people to sit comfortably, but the worst part was the obstructed view with this 10 ft extension that didn't allow us to look down. We were really disappointed about that as we love the balcony feature.

Ship tip

Diet before you go, way too much food!

Agreed...sailed it last march and was absolutely amazing from the first day to the last. We just book a large family ocean view room as we are NEVER in the room long enough to warrant spending the extra on a balcony. We set sail on the Escape in may and are so pumped for it!!

I cruised the Getaway in January and loved it! Heading back out on her next January with other family members. Sorry you were not happy with your balcony. I usually only book inside cabins to save cost and because I'm not in my cabin enough to warrant the added cost. More to spend on fun stuff!
