Review summary

We had a great cruise on the Norwegian Epic and were looking forward to a similar experience on the Getaway.
The ship is beautiful, clean and well-maintained.
Mini-suite cabin was outstanding. Cabin steward (Joao) was very good.
Entertainment left a lot to be desired. We did not like the necessity to get reservations for specific shows.
Liked the free-style dining but meals were mediocre and not very imaginative. Service in Tropicana and Taste was exceptional, not so in Savor. Buffet was good but repetitious.
All-in-all an enjoyable cruise but when there are so many competitors, we will not likely repeat with Norwegian.

Somewhat disappointing. Don't like the reservation requirement / stand-by. Should be first-come / first-served for all shows. Theater seats have a hard metal bar that makes sitting for any length of time feel like torture.

Children's Programs

Did not use any but since we didn't see a lot of children running around the ship, I would assume they were popular and kept the kiddies out of the way much of the time.

Cabin / Stateroom

Very nice cabin. Large bathroom and huge balcony with two lounge chairs, three regular chairs and a large table. Situated as the first extended balcony meant a lot of wind when traveling. Very clean and well-maintained. No complaints here!

Ship tip

Avoid Savor, visit Taste and Tropicana instead. Both were enjoyable. Make your reservations early if you want to see all the shows.

Unfortunately, it rained pretty hard and we did not stay very long. There is a section with umbrellas and lounge chairs. Get off the ship as early as possible to claim an umbrella. Otherwise you are in unfiltered sun since the palm trees are sparse.

Been there before so we stayed on the ship. Enjoyed an unrushed and relaxing day.
