Review summary

As a very experienced longtime cruiser, I realize the many changes that have occurred over the Years including no midnight buffets, specialty restaurants, and charges for previously included percks. Even with all these in mind, I was still even further shocked to being charged over $600/ person for a 7 day cruise for alcoholic drink package and forced to buy 1 for each one in my 4 person room although one person was wheelchair bound liver transplant patient who obviously is prohibited from drinking, and a second only drinks beer. There was a well advertised promotion for cruises booked from Sept- Oct 2nd which included 2 free package options when a balcony was booked, but when we went to claim it, were told our room had a discounted rate and therefor did not qualify. I understand small print, but this is total false advertising. When forced to rent a wheelchair, was charged $145 for the week, and then when required an electric scooter due to space constraints which totally would have made our stay unbearable since it didn't fit in hallways with cleaning carts always present, the cost of it went up to $275. All in all a very bad experience.

ok, except we had no way of knowing it would have bunk beds for 2 of us. In my case since the other 2 in our party included a liver transplant patient in a wheelchair, my wife and I had to extend the courtesy of given them the only large bed, and make us sleep apart.

Ship tip

please inquire the exact type beds you are getting ahead of time and if a party of 4, if all are in one room or not.

WOW, #1, Sounds like someone has not been on a cruise since 1970s.  #2, Nobody forced you to buy anything, you have the choice to say no.  #3, Sounds like you needed two rooms.

You want to spend all that money because not unless you are a alcoholic no one can drink $$600.00 in rum and far as the wheelchair you did not want to walk with yours so you rent one one you was not forced you wanted to because most people would do the math in their heads

We sailed back in March on the Star and first two guest got the drink package and the third wasn't made to buy a drink package. We were told she wouldn't have to since the first two were given to us. Maybe they changed the rules since then.

They make everyone in the room buy the package so that people can't get free drinks for the fellow cruisers. Clearly someone abused the package before.

Why were you forced to buy a drink package for each person in cabin ? I thought each person who wanted the package could buy one for themselves. I would surely question someone about this. Also we rented a scooter on the getaway and just moved cleaning stuff out of our way. We had also brought our own collapsible transfer wheelchair. Weighs about 25 pounds. Airline takes for free.

Yes.... you can choose to pay as you drink, and if you aren't a big drinker it's worth it to go that route.

Couldn't you just pay for your drinks as you go and not buy the drinks package? As $85 seems alot per day per person seems a rip off
