Review summary
Even though the Getaway is a newer ship it is very average. The decor is pleasant but nothing spectacular. The food was very sub par and when you pay for the specialty dining the food was very disappointing. The service in bars, pool areas was very poor until you tipped them then they were all smiles and great service. The entertainment was ok but only a few people were able to get into the venues which you had to prebook. There never seemed to be crowded even though there were 4,000 cruisers on board. Disembarking at the end of the cruise was the most disorganized I have ever experienced. We carried off our luggage and I think at least 60% of the ship decided to do the same thing. We all were trying to get off the ship at the same time and there was little to no direction from the staff at all. It was very sad to think you had a week of relaxation only to be very stressed trying to get off the ship. The one great thing about it was that the dress code was super casual. If you had children I heard that all the programs were free which is a huge plus for families. The rooms were very small and areas where you could bang your head if you are taller than 5'9". The balcony could barely fit two chairs, smallest balcony I have had. Would I book a cruise on this ship again.......probably not.
