Review summary
Loved everything about the cruise: our balcony 14 aft room, friendliness of crew and waitstaff;the restaurants, especially the Tropicana supper club with dance floor and entertainment; the interactive tv and screens for booking shows, planning our day and finding our way about the ship. The sports complex with the ropes course and overhang was daunting! Good Musical groups played everywhere. The Legally Blonde musical was entertaining and Burn the Floor dance troupe was spectacular. Be sure to book reservations for these. We loved Moderno the Brazilian restAurant. Go hungry! You will get as much ultra tender filet mignon, sirloin, sausages, chicken, ribs, lamb chops, shrimp etc as you can eat. Their huge salad bar even has ceviche. This was well worth the $20.00 per person. We chose a drink package when we made our reservations two days before the cruise. What a value; Tangueray 10 for Jim's gin and tonics, and a Bahamas mama or Piña Colada for me every afternoon at the Sugarcane Bar on the eighth deck. This package is good for any of the many bars and restaurants on the ship, The waterfront on the eighth deck was a comfortable place to sink into the cushy chairs and couches to read, muse, nap etc. as you enjoy the view at port or at sea. There were other quiet areas on the ship like the library and an adult area to sun yourself on the 16th deck. The cruise director, Jersey boy, Joel Sanchez was astounding! Warm, friendly, dynamic, he seemed to be everywhere, including the late night dance parties on the 16th deck! We didn't like smelling smoke in parts of the casino, although the ship did a pretty good job isolating the other smoking areas on the ship. We liked the free style of dining and will certainly book more cruises on Norwegian. We will be back!

Watch Joel's morning show on the TV and read the daily bulletin so you won't miss anything. Make your reservations for the shows, Legally Blonde, Burn the Floor, or Illusarium. If you eat at Moderno, bring your appetite and go a little easy on the abundant creative salad bar so yo

Beware of inflated port charges. Husband and I booked this cruise two days prior to sailing through Cheap Cruises who charged us $611.88 in taxes and port charges. The money that we thought we were saving on our very nice deck 14 balcony room was factored into the inflated port charges. Normal port charges for two on this trip was $231.88. We were naive. We still had a great time and will "Getaway" again. Just please take heed.
