Just do it (Then you'll know) But for me it was my 2nd cruise on Getaway and 5th Norweigen, still love it.

Review summary
Retired old man and still plugging along. This was my 19th Cruise and 5th Norweigen cruise in a row and they just keep getting better. I must say that this time was up graded to a balcony suite and my O my what a difference from the inside cabin. Although the Solo suites are also terrific for solo travelers, you'll get to meet other soloists of all kinds and make some great friends in this exclusive area.
I rate this ship the Getaway just a quarter star below the Epic which is her sister ship when it comes to great entertaiment. The Epic however does it slightly better in my Old Man Opinion. Still the lively Hit show 'Legally Blonde' and the up to date scanty costumes and top notch voices set my eyes and heart a flutter. One show is by far a spectacular event, if, you get a seat up front and close to the stage and that is The Illusionarium. The Magic of this show is not to be missed, if you do, you have missed the entire cruise. Now as the event of drinking fine wines is an art form that was lost on me most of my life I should point out the the Wine drinkers luncheon was quite enlightening and the whole event as entertaining as refreshing, after no less than six glasses of wine and and a great selection of foods to pair them to set the stage for a great afternoon at the Spectacular Pools and Hot tubs on deck 15.
I love good food and you will not find much better unless you are a real snob and in that case you probably don't like anything unless your private chef as prepared it for you, ever anyway. But! Food is everywhere you look and almost always available just for the taking. It really doesn't matter what your are looking for, it is on this ship somewhere if you just go looking for it. Specialty restaurants like the Teppanyaki are especially entertaining as they are a culinary delight. Beware! the gastronomical delights at the Noodle Bar can be breath taking, my palet is still on fire and it's been nearly a week since I ate there, I'll do it again next time.
The drinks were a bit pricey but I've seen worse in NY and Miami and even in my own home town in South Carolina.
I had a great time on the excursions and I have to recommend the Champaine Catamaran to St John from St. Thomas. Even for an old salt like me, seeing the crystal blue waters, relaxing with the fishes swimming just below as you snorkle above is, Well it just makes an old man feel younger some how. You will have to try it if you are as able to walk from the bus down the short pier to the Catamaran then you too can do it. I'm 70 and afterwards I felt like 50 again. Just be careful and don't over do the free drinks on the way back to the pier.
Ther are many choices of excursions however and you should read up on line before you pick one for you or the family. Another great excursion that I have done was the Jeep Tour, worth the money.
All I can add to this is that I really enjoy meeting all of the great people who almost always are friendly and congenial if you are. I had some really nice conversations with some really nice ladies who weren't looking for my billfold, refreshing to say the least or should that be the most. Thanks Gals and guys as well. You all helped make my Getaway Cruise

Ship tip
MY Tip to any one cruising on the Getaway! Just try as many things as time allows and have fun, I do every time and if I find the right friend to share my cruise with, I think it would be even better.
