Review summary

We took this cruise just to get away as we have been to the ports before.  We enjoyed the three days at sea and only left the ship to check out the shopping "bargains".  The shops are not near the dock and you need to take a water taxi to get to the shopping area.  We enjoyed our time in St. Maarten but were not impressed with St. Thomas.  It was a holiday in Nassau so all of the shops there were closed.

We had a forward balcony room and the service and friendliness of the room staff was excellent, which has been the case on most of our criuses.  This was our second NCL cruise this year, the first being in Hawaii.  We took advantage of the dine around specialty option for our dinner each night.  We found the service at the buffet to be pleasant but were not impressed with the water vapor droplets that fell on the tables and benches.  The service at the main dining rooms for breakfast and lunch was fair at best and we were not impressed with the service in the specialty restaurants.

The time estimates for the specialty restaurants is estimated at 1 1/2 hours so we allocated two hours before our show times.  Unfortunately the dining time took longer than expected at some of the restaurants so we had to skip coffee and desert to rush to our shows so that we would not miss our reservations and miss the shows.

The ship itself is clean and beautiful and the room accomodations were great as the temparature control kept our room the way we like (on the cooler side).  We could have used a bit more water pressure in the shower but the water temparature controls were good.  We could have used a bit more storage/ hanging space but we managed.   We will be sailing later this year on additional NCL cruises.

Ship tip

Have breakfast and lunch early if you plan on using the buffet as the tables fill up fast and the area gets crowded. Plan dinner and show reservations way before you get on board. Get to the illusionarium early if you want to get a good floor seat. Paying premium does not guarantee good seats.
