Review summary

This was my first cruise.  I was a bit overwhelmed with all the people.  We knew NCL was offering a private sun deck called Vibe, for the first 80 people to reserve it for a small fee.  It was the best decision we made.  No kids and even though it sold out there was never more than 25-30 people in there at a time.  We had our own bar and two hottubs and lots of lounge chairs.  The music was also a bit more subdued than the thump thumping constant dance music at the pool.  I also loved the sun deck H2O.  This was also no kids during the day and it had a great waterfall that you could sit under or around and it was another of my favorite spots!  The only adult pool however was tiny! And kids were allowed in the adult pool and hottubs.  There would not have been any way to actually swim as the pool was packed!  But as I said earlier I preferred the other sun decks anyway as they were a bit quieter.

The food was great in the three main dining rooms. The freestyle dining was fabulous.  We did not have to have a seating time or a reservation for these three dining rooms and never waited more than 5 minutes to be seated.  Breakfast in these dining rooms was very good as well.  We also ate at the Tepanyaki restaurant and the Sushi bar for dinner and they were both excellent.  The buffet was as I expected in one way.  It was extremely crowded and people seemed to think that if they didn't get to the food first it was going to magically disappear.  The quality of the food on the buffet was way more than I expected.  We ate there for lunch most days so that we didn't have to leave the sundecks to shower and dress.  We did not eat there at dinner but I would imagine the food was just as good. We did go get an ice cream cone one night after dinner though:-)

The bars at night were diverse and fun.  I do wish there was one with country music though.  It is so popular now I was surprised that everything was pop and jazz and no country to be found:-(

Overall I can say I really enjoyed my first cruise and will most definitely do it again.  Jorge, our cabin steward called us by name on the first day and always had a smile and something nice to say each time we saw him.   NCL was fabulous.

Jorge, our cabin steward was the best. I looked forward to his smile every day. He always had something nice to say to us and seemed very ginuine! Kervin our Vibe bartender was very attentive and kept us cool with drinks and fruit!

I wish the balconies were no smoking though. We go to smell our neighbor smoking every time we went out there.

Ship tip

Buy the Vibe pass for the private sundeck if you want some peace and quiet with your pina colada!

Dont miss the Sunset Bar and restaurant by the airport. Planes fly in right over the beach. Just a short cab ride from the port.

Snorkelling was awesome at Turtle Cove. Not as exciting at the shipwreck.

Our friends went to Blue Lagoon and said we missed a great time and a good place to snorkel. We were very upset we didn't go.
