Review summary

This was our first cruise on the east coast and our second cruise NCL. Overall we had a great time both on the ship and at the ports of call. Pro - a lot of restaurants to choose from made dining very pleasant. Nice décor, including new carpets and room furnishings. Very good entertainment options. Cons -took way to long to register to board the ship. Boarded around 2:30 and room was not ready. Weak staff service, we normally go with Princess and they are great.

We too just got off the Gem over the weekend. We got on during our arranged time and even disembarked an hour earlier than the time we picked, no long lines or back up, which surprised us as we did Alaska and it was backed up. Was skeptical abt going on NCL again bcuz of negative comments I read. But frm beginning to start, it was a great cruise, met great people. Freestyle is what we like and all the other complainers should go somewhere else if you expect more.

We were in the terminal at 9:45, which is what we registered for, got on ship around 11:15, ate lunch. Room ready around 3 but wasn't necessary to get into. What staff service was weak, we (group of nine) all felt get gave 100+%
